Hershberger new JV coach
By tARY LEWIS Galen Hershberger, Wawasee’s freshman basketball coach, has been named junior varsity basketball coach for the 1983-84 season, it was announced last week. Hershberger, who has coached Syracuse Junior High basketball teams for eight years, teaches social studies at Syracuse Junior High. He joins Wysong’s staff after working with Wysong at summer basketball camp. “Galen’s a real fine person who understands our system well and was a big help in implementing it,” said Wysong. “He also helped me with the camp just about everydayStjhis summer, and that’s a pretty.good indication he is interested. ” GALEN HERSHBERGER Hershberger s freshmen ended with a 5-12 mark last season. He was 12-39 in five years at the eighth-grade level, and 12-27 in three years at the seventh-grade level. “I’m looking forward to working closer with John, and learning more of what it’s all about at the high school level,” Hershberger said. Tony Vermillion, who coaches freshman football and North Webster Junior High basketball, will move up to coach the freshman basketball team this season. “I really look forward to working as a JV coach, and working with the varsity,” Hershberger said. Next season promises to be a rebuilding one for the Warriors,
