New look for Women's department

By PATRICIA RATHBURN COUNTY EXTENSION OFFICE A new name for a changing, more diverse department, will make its debut at the 1983 Kosciusko County Fair. The Women’s Department is now the Family Arts Department, and, according to department general superintendent Judy Cutler, the name change is a result of a the department’s many additions over the years. Also, both men and children participate in the department, making the name switch more accurate. The Home and Family Arts Department offers open class competition for all residents of Kosciusko County. The departments includes agriculture, arts and handicraft, baking and canning, clothing, needlework, house and garden flowers, and a new addition — the disabled department. The disabled department is for those who suffer a disablity or a handicap. Home and Family Arts Department entries will be accepted at the Women’s building, on Monday, August 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. Judging will begin immediately following closing time and will be closed to the public. The department will reopen to the public Monday night at 7 p.m. and will remain open until 10 p.m. Hours during the remainder of the week will be 10 a m. to 10 p.m. Throughout the Week, demonstrations will be featured in the Demonstration Corner. On Tuesday, August 2, at 3 p.m., “Fabric Kitchen Craft,” will be Two people injured in accident Two people were injured Friday night when a truck driven by Raymond Pena, 17, Milford, went off the road on a portion of the Maxwelton Golf Course on Kosciusko County Line Road. The two injured people were passengers in the truck. Bridget Biasing, 15, Dublin, Ohio, sustained cuts on her knee and a bump on her head. Velma McCloskey, 15, Syracuse, had a cut on her head. Pena was not injured. Damage to the truck was between S2OO and SI,OOO.
