Os the local churches, Syracuse United Pentacostal church is one of the few that still busses some of its congregation. Rev. David Hudson, pastor of the United Pentacostal Church, noted at one time this church boasted of operating three buses. The bus program began approx imately eight years ago and nGw the church has only one bus in use. Rev. Hudson said it is not only very costly, it is very time consuming and it takes a lot of very dedicated people to keep this program in force. He indicated it takes well over an hour on Sunday mornings to run the present route. The bus picks up on the average, 40 people on Sundays, but has often picked up as many as 60 people. Most of the people are from the Ligonier area. The bus is also used to transport people to and from special events, camp and youth rallies.

Getting accustomed to a new community
By HOWARD DOWNING Leesburg Grace Brethren Charch America today has been swept away in a society geared up to “being on the go” in the name of progress. And I am all for progress, but how many people really understand what they are “on the go” for? Where are they going in this life? Why do we do the things we do? Relocating to a new community stirs up such basic questions. Packing, loading, unloading, unpacking, arranging can be exciting but in reality is a tiring, frustrating task. We have moved 12 times in 16 years of marriage. Not many of these relate to the ministry as I have invested over 10 years in the engineering field in training and experience. We have become quite systematic movers of our accumulations. Plunging into a new community was relatively simple — just be yourself! People frequently try to press you into a mold and expect you to be the way they think you should be. Now, being yourself does not mean demanding your rights selfishly or violating the rights of others. It does mean being considerate of others, treating them as more important than yourself. Our society today propagates a philosophy of selfishness and grabs hold of the naive and attempts to squeeze them into a box. Personally we are clinging to a freer, more positive truth as revealed in the Scripture, being transformed by the renewing of your mind, i.e. letting God remold your mind from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets His demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity. Do you know what your goal in life is? The time it takes to get accustomed to a new area will de-

pend mostly on your perspective in life. Our singular motivation for re-locating to a new community was to share Jesus Christ If you seek to impress others with yourself and your things you will never be content If you understand life from God's perspective you will learn true contentment. . may change, but people remain the same. People have problems and needs the world over. Our world is catapulting towards a conclusion in God’s dealing with man. We have chosen to serve the Lord by directing people to the Problem-solver, Jesus Christ, before it is too late. Are you ready to meet Him? We thank God for placing us in the community of Leesburg. The town is friendly and quiet. There even used to be a lot of goodlooking beards in town, that is before the Sesquicentennial. Growing accustom to this area is easy. Our real concern is for people. We have the privilege of sharing this Truth beginning in Leesburg, reaching out ultimately to the county, state and world. Our world can only be changes to the degree individuals are changed from the heart within. As individuals and families go, so goes the nation and the world. We will all personally give an account before God at judgment time, as to our relationship with Christ and our deeds. From God’s perspective, small communities like Leesburg can be extremely significant in His plan. It takes time, but our time is in His hands. May we serve you from Leesburg? Rev. Ough to speak Rev. Bruce Ough will be the guest speaker for the Boat-In Worship services to be held at the Oakwood Hotel Piers, July 31, at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Ough's sermon is entitled “James and John Right and Left.” Special music will be pro- - vided by Steve Martin from Goshen. Worship leader will be Rev. Harlan Steffen, pastor of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.

Godleys leave for Zaire
Gran and Virginia Godley, members of the Calvary United Methodist Church, shared in the late worship service recently before leaving today (Wednesday) to spend a year or more in Lodja, Zaire, working with Christian Lay Ministries. The couple is endorsed by the Calvary Council on Ministries for the mission service. Transportation to the mission field is paid by the Godleys and funds collected will finance supplies and materials to help the local people help themselves. The Godleys are seeking 200 prayer partners and 100 financial partners. Anyone interested in
FAITH SAYS ONE WAY TO LOVE THY NEIGHBOR IS TO BE QUIET t is unfortunate that due to modern technology and selfish attitudes, we’re living in an age in which qufet neighbors are becoming increasingly scarce. Toy manufacturers dream up ever noisier devices, to be purchased by parents who won’t even hear them above their own unmuffled motorcycles and the latest rock sounds blasting from their bathtub-size stereo speakers. However, the neighbors will; and all of this may consign to a high-decibel purgatory those hapless souls next door who might want to hear their own brand of music or their TV programs, or just enjoy a little peace and quiet in their homes. Throughout the Bible we are told to love our neighbors, so if your faith hasn’t yet taught you and your family to show some consideration for them, let its lessons remind you of this responsibility; and help you remember that they might appreciate a little silence once in a while. An inability to stay “l exhort, that we may quiet... is one of lead a quiet and the most conspicuous peaceable l,fe In all godliness failings of mankind. ■ and honesty.” — Walter Bagehot —1 T |rn °thy 2:1.2
