The secret to preventing cavities could be piactic wrap, university dentists have found. In experiments at the Medical College of the University of Georgia it was recently determined that a similar plastic hardens to a cavity-resistant surface when applied to teeth. A single application of the plastic was administered to the teeth of 400 elementary school children in 1976, and 68 per cent of the teeth remain free of cavities to this day, it was reported. “Routine application of the plastic sealant to worn spots and regular flossing and brushing would result in almost 100 per cent cavity prevention,” said Dr. James Williams of the University of Georgia.
