MERMAID FESTIVAL MERCHANT — Rinker’s Family Store in North Webster was one of several area merchants to take advantage of the crowds in town Saturday for the opening of the 1983 Mermaid Festival.

Paula Peterson, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Peterson, North Webster, is sponsored by Ski Bees, North Webster, as “Miss Lake Webster,” in the Mermaid Festival Queen Os Lakes Contest. She attended Manatee Junior College, Fla., last fall and is a 1982 graduate of Venice, Fla., High School. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and weighs 125 pounds. Miss Peterson is five feet, eight inches tall and enjoys fishing, skiing, cooking and cleaning.

SWIMSUIT WINNER — The current Queen of Lakes, Terri Kellogg, won the Miss Swimsuit title last year. It was the third year in a the swimsuit contest winner went on to win the coveted crowm Terri is a resident of Lake Wawasee and Nappanee. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kellogg and has light brown hair and green eyes. She is five feet, nine inches tall and a student at Indiana University in South Bend.

Miss Ely is a graduate of Norwell High School and the 18-year-old daughter of Mrs. Alice Ely, Bluffton. She has brown hair, green eyes and weighs 108 pounds. “Miss Wells County” is five feet, five inches tall and enjoys music, traveling and college. She was active in swing choir, cheerleading, National Honor Society, Sunshine Society and was student council president in high school.

Miss Boling attends Ball State University and is 22 years old. Her parents are Mr.and Mrs. Darrell Boling. “Miss Camelot Lake** has brown hair, brown eyes and weighs 110 pounds. She is five feet, four inches tall and enjoys weight lifting, water skiing, aerobic exercise and swimming.
