JUNE 15,1953 Miss Florence Beer will wear the “Miss Milford” ribbon when she takes part in the beauty contest at the Mermaid Festival at North Webster. She was graduated a few weeks ago from Milford High school, in which she took a prominent part in the musical activities of the school. She was a member of the band, the high school chorus, and the girls sextette. She is a blonde weighing 120 pounds, and is five feet, five inches tall. The date of the contest is Friday. June 23. Claude Smith was chosen by the American Legion Post 226 of Milford to attend Boys State at Indianapolis this month. Claude will be a senior in Milford high school during the coming school year. A total of 71 people received degrees: 12 received MAs in religion; 54 received masters of divinity; two received the doctor of ministry and the doctor of theology, each.
