B IB I Ji OP ■ lA’iAlb WEBSTER HERO — North Webster fourth grader Jerry Smith was honored recently for an act of heroism performed this winter. The 10-year-old Cub Scout and Lake Tippecanoe resident saved the life of a friend, fellow Cub Scout Brent Tobin, when Brent fell through the ice on Lake Tippecanoe. Using information he had learned at a Cub Scout meeting. Jerry remained calm, told Brent to hang onto the edge of the ice (which broke several times before he got a solid hold), and ran to a nearby ydrd where he found a toy "lightsaber” which he used to pull Brent to safety.
