Girls second in sectional The Wawasee girls’ track team placed second in the sectional held at North Wood last night (Tuesday). The girls scored 64* points. Wawasee was runner-up in last year’s sectional competition too. Elkhart Central, the defending champions, took top honors again with 75 points. Marcia Sorensen had Wawasee’s only first place. She took her honors in the shotput. Grace Stichter and Sonia Melendez were second and third in the 1600 meter race and Grace was second in the 800. Others competing at North Wood were Angola. Bethany Christian, Central Noble, Concord, East Noble, Elkhart Memorial, Fairfield, Fremont, Goshen, Hamilton, Lakeland, Northridge, Prairie Heights, West Noble. Westview and North Wood. Complete results will be given next week.
Blackburn broke records previously set by Jay Kaiser. Smith hit his 34th base hit of the season and Blackburn stole his 17th base. Kaiser had stolen 16 bases in 1979 and had 33 hits in the 1977 season.

MUD BOG CONTEST — On Sunday. May 15, the Fort Wayne Four-Wheel Drive Club held its annual spring Mud Bog contest at the North Webster motocross race track. Several area mud bogging enthusiast entered the competition. Steve Kuhl from Syracuse entered the competition for the first time and placed third in the Class A competition.
