GALLERY SHOW — Syracuse Elementary Art Department presented it’s first gallery show last week. The art gallery was displayed in the upper level of the school’s gymnasium and all students were given the opportunity to view the various displays. Diverse musician named student of the month
Annette Wilson, 11-year-old daughter of Paul and Nancy Sand of Milford, is the May Music Student of the Month, announced Donna Pollen, Milford Elementary music teacher. Annette is in the fifth grade and enjoys many different musical experiences. She has been taking II || IL ANNETTE WILSON

piano lessons for 2>£ years, is a member of the Milford Special Choir and enjoys singing solos in church, school functions and community programs. Last summer, Annette participated in the Mermaid Festival talent contest where she and Moni Lange sang a duet, “Side by Side.” This year, Annette is a member of the Lakeland Youth Center Drama Club and will be in the “Wizard of Oz” where she will perform a song and dance routine. Annette will be a member of the sixth grade band and choir next year and will appear in the “Fifth Grade Follies” on May 19. The prom committee decorated the gymnasium with a grass hutch, cave, jungle animals, waterfair and various murials depicting a jungle. Shown in the top photo are Ross Dahlstrom, artist for the decorations and Ken Turner, prom chairman, arranging several of the live plants which decorated the gym. To receive the shoes the students earned money through the selling of coupon books in conjunction with the Syracuse Dairy Queen. Support is still needed for the Special Olympic team to attend the regional competition on May 21-22 in South Bend and the state competition on June 3-4 in Terre Haute. Pat Bartow , special education assistant, stated the money is needed for expenses to attend the state games. Richard Long, principal, stated the program gives the students the opportunity to learn all the letters of the alphabet and the sounds, making the students a much better reader.
