WCTU holds meeting
The Women’s Christian Temperance Union of Indiana will hold its annual mid year meeting on Thursday, March 24, at Irvington United Methodist Church, 30 Audubon Road, Indianapolis. Mrs. James Shelley, state president, will preside at the day’s program under the theme “Safe Pathways.” The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and registration begins at 9 a.m. The morning’s session will be devoted to state officers, department directors and executive directors’ presentations including aims; purposes and plans for the departments and branches; a Pearl Medal Speech Contest; and presentation of Love Gift offerings to the state treasury. Mrs. Glen Morehouse of Milford, state director of citizenship, will be included in the sessions. There will be a sack lunch at noon with time for participants to Celebrates first birthday Nathaniel Lloyd Coy celebrated his first birthday on Saturday, March 12, with a party held at the home of his parents, Stewart and Shelley Coy, Milford. Nathaniel was born March 9, 1982." Among those attending the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. James Moore, Milford, maternal grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Fisher, South Bend, maternal great-grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Coy, paternal grandparents; Louise Neer, Milford, paternal greatgrandmother; Jill Mark, South Bend; Kim Coy; Ronda Traver; and Darla Moore. A circus theme was used for the celebration with a two-tiered cake decorated with elephants and clowns holding suckers.

Highlight of the day’s program will be an address by Mrs. Robert Warrick of Cambridge City who recently returned from Japan where she and her husband served as missionaries for 16 years. Mrs. Warrick, daughter of Mrs. J. Clayton Smith, state trustee, is a graduate of Ball State University and is an elementary teacher. Since returning to Cambridge City, she has become president of Wayne County WCTU and sponsor of the Wayne County Youth Temperance Council. She and her' husband have six children. Vera Schell senior citizen queen nt Milford Darrell Om presided over the meeting of the Milford Senior Citizens held Sunday, March 13. During the business meeting, Vera Schell was selected Milford's Senior Citizen queen. She will compete with other Kosciusko County queens later this season. Members of Syracuse invited all tor attend a meeting there Saturday, March 19. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. If interested, call Amanda Davison. There will be a spaghetti supper in the Milford Community Building Friday, March 18, starting at 4 p.m. New Paris members announced their meeting at Sunnyside Park at 12p.m., April 22. Members and guests were present from Nappanee, Millersburg, New Paris and Milford. The next meeting of the Milford Senior Citizens will be Sunday, March 20. All senior citizens are invited to attend.
STUDENT MERIT AWARD — Ron Geyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Geyer, Milford, will receive a student merit award at the annual convention of the Industrial Designers Society of America on March 18. Ron, a senior majoring in industrial design at Purdue University, will give a slide presentation of his projects at the awards dinner Friday evening in Chicago. Theatre guild to hold meeting The Enchanted Hills Playhouse Theater Guild will hold its first meeting of 1983 on Thursday, March 18, at 10 a.m. in the home of Mrs. Ray Grumme. One of the purposes of this meeting will be to acquaint prospective members with the purposes and activities of the organization. Now in its ninth year of existance, the guild acts as a support group for Enchanted Hills Playhouse, the 45 members are involved in a wide variety of social and other activities relating to the life of the playhouse. Activities include such things as a spring style show, cast parties, an annual wine tasting party and the Winter Carnival dance. The most recent project of the guild has been the publication of a cookbook, which members will see for the first time Thursday morning. Meetings are held at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month, March through September. New members are always welcome, but for the first meeting of each year a special invitation is extended to anyone who may be interested in joining the guild. For further information or directions call Mrs. Ray Grumme or Mrs. Stephen Berkey. Quitting program The Wednesday Afternoon Club of Syracuse met on March 9 at the home of Mrs. Robert Searfoss. Sixteen members and two guests were present. Mrs. Jack Clark gave the program on quilting. She started with a brief history of quilting and showed samples of quilt blocks. Hostesses were Mrs. Robert Searfoss, Mrs. Warren Sloan, and Mrs. George Kloepfer.

Miss Sandra Jo Gerencser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Gerencser, Sr., of Milford, became the bride of David Brian Lundgren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hariri O. Lundgren, Jr., of Geneva, 111., on Sunday, Sept. 18, 1982. Rev. David S. Handley performed the double-ring ceremony at The First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, 111. The bride’s gown was constructed of shimmer satin with two overlays of chiffon. The white gown had a fitted bodice and a flared skirt with a cathedrallength train edged in a scallop of schiffli lace. The bodice, appliqued with Venice lace and pearls, had a sheer yoke with more lace and pearls at the neckline. The full-length fitted sleeves were alencon lace trimmed with a ruffle of chantilly lace at the wrist. The three-quarter-length veil draped from a crown fashioned of shimmer satin, Venice lace and pearls to match the dress. The gown and veil were designed by the bride and handmade by her mother, Mrs. Joseph A. Gerencser. She carried a circular bouquet made up of white roses, carnations and baby’s breath. Honor attendants were Mrs. Stephen Eldrenkamp of Cedar Falls, lowa, as matron of honor and Mrs. Thomas Avischious, West Lafayette,; Sharon Gerencser, sister of the bride, Milford; and Carol Lundgren, sister of the bridegroom, Geneva, Ill.; as bridesmaids. They wore full-length gowns of burgundy satin with fitted bodices, empire waistlines, and A-line skirts. Each had a corded jewel neckline and full-length sleeves gathered to ruffle at the wrist. Gerencser, Jr., brother of the bride, Sandwich, Ill.; and Gary Gerencser, brother of the bride, Milford. A dinner reception was held at the Holiday Inn Chicago-Skokie, followed by a dance featuring the Roger Pemberton band. It was hosted by the bride’s parents. The bridegroom graduated from Oral Roberts University with a BS in accounting. He is an audit supervisor with Fay Conmy and Company, Chicago. The bride is a graduate of Wawasee High School and received a BA in communication at Purdue University. She is employed an an office manager for Russ Brown Office Machines, Skokie, 111. Following a wedding trip to New England, the couple is at home at 1113 Foster Street, Evanston, 111. BPW enjoy carry-in The Syracuse Business and Professional Women’s Club held its March meeting at the home of Carol Elder. A carry-in dinner was enjoyed by 17 members. Hostesses were Sandra Smith and Georgia Buster. Saint Patrick’s was the theme for the day. Games were played for the social, hour and the door prize was won by Jean Niles. During the business meeting it was decided to hold a chicken barbecue on May 30 during the Syracuse Sagebrush Days. The next meeting will be April 12.
