lady Waniors defeat Plymouth, travel to Bremen Thursday

In their final tune-up before the NLC showdown at Bremen Thursday, the Lady Warriors downed Plymouth Tuesday night 67-43. Coach Dale Brannock’s crew hit on 11 of 14 free throw attempts in the win. Free throw shooting was a sore spot in the Lady Warriors’ only loss of the season against archrival Goshen. But two NLC losses by Goshen have put the Lady Warriors back in the driver’s seat for sole possession of the conference championship. A win Thursday against the Lady Lions would clinch the conference championship for the

Nancy Anderson of Syracuse has volunteered to coordinate the campaign. “Strike Out Cancer — Spare A Child Campaign” is being held in conjunction with the Professional Bowlers Association of American and Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The program is dedicated to Terry of Mount Carmel, 111., a normal eight-year-old girl who in March of 1978 developed acute lymphocytic leukemia, the most common form of childhood cancer. She has been a patient for the past four years at Saint Jude’s and has been in remission since November of 1980 and off all medication. The research hospital was founded by entertainer Danny Thomas and opened its doors to the public in 1962 to combat catastrophic diseases in children. It is a non-sectarian, nondiscriminatory hospital and provides total medical care to all patients. Scientists and physicians work to seek not only better means of treatment, but also cause, cure and prevention of the many diseases handled there. All information gathered at Saint Jude’s is shared with other institutions. Sponsor forms are available at Wawasee Bowl for persons wishing to join the effort. Loafers only Spread your meatloaf mixture in a pie pan and build up the sides to form a crust shape. Bake until partially done. Fill with mashed potatoes. Wawaste started the game rather sluggish but thanks to some timely substitutions and a full-court press in the second quarter, began to pull away for an easy win. The Bremen clash, in addition to figuring in the NLC race, should be a good tune-up for the “second season” beginning next week — the sectional.
