Goshen extends streak at Wawasee expense

Goshen’s highly-rated boys’ swimming team extended its consecutive win streak to 54 last week with 75-52 win over Tim Caldwell’s Wawasee swimmers. Admitting before the contest that it would require a super effort to win, Caldwell said the Warriors performance was a disappointment. The loss dropped Wawasee’s mark to 7-2 going into tomorrow’s (Thursday) NLC meet with Concord. “We were the underdog,” Caldwell explained. “We didn’t Swim well enough to create an upset.” he added. “It’s a matter of beating Concord and Warsaw now,” said Caldwell, who is looking ahead to the Warriors final six meets. Four of those six remaining meets include four NLC opponents. After Concord, the Warriors travel to Plymouth January 25 and then host Bremen January 27. “They swam super and we had a bad day,” Caldwell said. Goshen has won 72 of the last 73 Correction The Mail-Journal incorrectly reported Maude Packer’s parents name in last week’s “Athlete of the Week. ” Her parents name should have been listed as Mr. and Mrs. Worth Packer. The Mail-Journal regrets this error. Goshen tickets available Friday Wawasee athletic department secretary Sally Baker has announced that pre-sale tickets for this Friday’s basketball game at Goshen will be sold at the Wawasee athletic office all day Friday. Students can purchase tickets for 11.59 and the adult ticket price is 12.25. Anyone wishing to attend the game is urged to buy his tickets early to avoid a long wait at Goshen.
