scored 16. Leading scorer for Wawasee was Maude Packer ' with LA Sophomore Anita Swope came into the Warrior line to do an outstanding job, adding 12 to Wawasee’s scoring. Another sophomore, Sandy Payne, added T(1 points for the Lady Warriors with her fine performance. Although both Grace Stichter and Tona Sellers saw some playing time, neither player was able to contribute to the team effort at their full potential. Both girls were injured during toe Northridge game on December 18. Senior Carol Walker, who has

been a strong scorer for Wawasee this season was able to score only one point. Her twin sister. Cheryl, however, added nine points to Wawasee’s total. Coach Dale Brannock said that he was not disappointed with the way the girls played. He said he had talked to an official after the game who said that he worked at toe semi-state tournament last year and he did not believe there were any better teams there than toe two teams that played at Goshen Monday. Brannock credited the failure to hit free throws as toe problem against Goshen, stating toe girls missed 17 free throws, w of

which were the first of one-and-ones. He feels the girts did not do their best and put the Goshen girls at the line too much, but said the team bad a good talk afler the game and they learned bow they will have to play uudm preosure. Brannock said he feels the teem has an optimistic outlook for the future. He said they are shooting tor the sectional” and toe loss to Goshen “is not the end of the world. ” Goshen's girls led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter with Wawasee holding the lead, 25-22 at halftime and in the third quarter Wawasee was able to obtain an eight point lead. At the end of the third period the Lady Warriors were leading 42-38, but Goshen quickly caught up when the Wawasee girts could not seem to find their mark in toe final stanza. Foul problems for the Warriors took Goshen to the free throw line, where the Lady Redskins gained the lead, with 2:43 left in the game. After that the Lady Warriors were on a downhill slide as they continued to have foul problems and could not hit from the free throw line when Goshen got into foul problems. Goshen led, with 42 seconds, by sx points, and Wawasee’s last chance to catch up seemed to be gone when the ball was lost on a traveling call. With only seconds left in toe game Sandy Payne scored the final basket to cut the Redskin’s winning lead to four. Wawasee will host Elkhart Central on Saturday and Whi tko on Thursday, in the final home game of the season.
