Mrs. Ruth Rapp of Syracuse will be spending the Christmas holidays with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Hoverman, and family at Michigan City. Nineteen members and two guests, Mrs. Edison Witmer of Larwill and Miss Denise Allen of Syracuse met Wednesday, Dec. 12, for the annual Christmas party of the Goodwill Home Demonstration Club at the House of Friendship south of Syracuse. Hostess committee for the day was composed of Mesdames Dean Grady. Glenn Byler and Lilly Warner Edgar Speer, Syracuse elementary school principal, approached the Syracuse town board of trustees Tuesday night, Dec. 18, to see if some sort of a solution for providing adult supervision at highway 13 school crossings could be arranged by the town.

That jolly old gent known as Santa Claus will pay another visit to the children of this area on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 12:30, in Syracuse. The management of the Pickwick Theatre is cooperating with Santa and will open the doors of the theatre at that time to admit hundreds of boys and girls, who have been good this year, free. // RECEPTION FOR BRUCE WRIGHT - Brace Wright, shown here on the right, was the guest at a reception held in his honor at the Lake City Bank in Warsaw last Thursday noon. With him is Ms wife Florine, bank president Douglas Grant and Warsaw attorney Milo Lightfoot. Wright came to Warsaw from Braiil, Ind., in 1962 to be Lake City Bank president, a position he turned over to Douglas Grant recently to become the bank’s chief executive officer. Wright will officially retire December 31 and spend part of the year at Lakeland, Fla., where he and Mrs. Wright recently purchased a home.
Dalton to head state chamber
Tippecanoe Lake’s W. M. (Matt) Dalton has been elected chairman of the Indiana State Syracuse man arrested after 2-vehide mishap Michael G. Grevenstuck, 21, r 5 Syracuse, was arrested for driving with a suspended license following a two-car mishap at CR 300E and Syracuse-Milford Road. The mishap occurred Wednesday morning, Dec. 15. According to police, Barbara E. Olson, 23, 813 Medusa, Syracuse, was traveling slowly on the side of CR 300E because she was having car trouble when Grevenstuck pulled out in front of her at the intersection. Barbara Olson told police she had her warning flashers on, and Grevenstuck stated he thought she was signaling a turn. Damage to each vehicle was estimated up to SI,OOO. After being booked at the county jail Grevenstuck was released on his own recognizance.

Nancy Ketering. 56 YEARS AGO, DEC. 22,1932 In a recent meeting, held in Indianapolis, State Senator Anderson Ketchum of Greensburg said that in the 1933 session of the Indiana General Assembly a bill will be passed placing a sales tax which is being proposed to cover the deficit that will be in the state budget at the end of the fiscal year of 1983. N. D. Myers of Syracuse was in Milford Tuesday. Joan Rodebaugh of Syracuse spent the week end here with the Daniel Mishler family. A marriage license was issued to Edward E. Klinger of Syracuse, who lives near Dewart Lake, and Lucretia M. Harris of North Webster, on Thursday of last week. The fishing through the ice has been good during the past two weeks and the catching also has been good. Despite the cold weather the fish still are active. Many of the local fishermen have brought the limit from the lakes. One of the hardest difficulties lies in the getting of bait.
Chamber of Commerce at the organization’s annual meeting last week. Dalton will serve a one-year term as chairman of the 90 member board. As chairman, Dalton will be responsible for a wide range of activities, including economic development, taxation, the environment, personnel and labor relations issues, workmen’s compensation and unemployment compensation. Dalton’s association with the Indiana state chamber began 19 years ago when he was elected to the board. He resigned in 1970 and moved away from the area and was re-elected when he returned in 1974. Recently, he was nominated to the fivemember executive committee.

TIMBER! —This Christmas tree located ia and out of the window at Oops in Nappanee provided Jim and J JI. Stßlson, co-owners of the clothing store, with “a lot of fun, and some embarassment” Half of the tree Is suspended from the inside ceiling with wire while the other half Is on the outside of the window. The tree appears to have fallen through the front window. Sdllson estimated between 35 and 56 calls were received telling him Ms tree had fallen through the window.
