Churches celebrate birth of Christ Child
With Christmas only 10 days away, most area churches have special events scheduled for the next week and a list of the individual churches and their programs follows: Milford First Brethren Rev. Paul Tinkel of the First Brethren Church in Milford wants to remind local citizens of the community Christmas Carol scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 18, the Christian Workers Class will meet at the church at 6:30 for Christmas caroling and a time of fellowship afterwards. The nursery church will present a short musical program during the 10:30 worship hour on Sunday, Dec. 19. Also on that date, the Christian Workers Class will organize a choir to present special music during the service Milford United Methodist Sunday. Dec. 19, is a busy day Muncie pastor speaks at dinner The Full Gospel Business Men of Lake Wawasee Chapter invite the public to a dinner on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Kimmel Hall at Oakwood Park. Syracuse. The speaker for the evening is Eldon Morehouse, pastor of a Muncie church which has doubled in size since February 1982. His topic will be "How to Walk the Love Walk.” Reservations may be made by calling 856-4331 or 457-3534 by December 15. A meal donation is requested. Following the dinner, special music will also be a part of the meeting Missionaries speak at Milford church The public is invited to attend the December 26 Sunday morning service at the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Milford where Mr and Mrs Carl Thomas, missionaries to Kenya under the Campus Crusade for Christ, will speak. Service time is 10:30a.m. Thomas will tell of his work as a diesel mechanic in training young Kenyans to repair trail bikes used to carry the gospel into the bush country Mr. and Mrs. Thomas are Spending the last days of a short furlough with his parents, Mr. * and Mrs. Marion. for members of the Milford United Methodist Church and any other interested people. The cantata "Love Came Down” by Sonny Salbury will be presented by 18 members of the adult choir (hiring the morning worship service at 10:30. The cantata involves traditional carols and Christmas songs plus newer songs in an attempt to convey the true meaning of Christmas. The morning worship service will be followed by a birthday party for Jesus at 11:30. That evening at 6:30, the Lilly Dorsey Puppeteer Christmas Story will compose the monthly Family Night. The production originated in Warsaw and is a unique way of telling a Christmas story. The event is open to the public with refreshments after the program. Hastings Island Chapel During the worship service on Sunday, Dec. 19, the fifth grade special choir, under the direction of Donna Pollen, will sing at Hastings Island Chapel United Methodist Church at 10:30. That evening, all members are encouraged to attend the Lilly Dorsey Puppeteer Christmas Story program at the Milford United Methodist Church. Leesburg United Methodist The United Methodist Church of Leesburg will celebrate a churchwide family Christmas with carol singing and a youth choir program at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19. The program will be followed by refreshments and fellowship in the church basement. Canned goods and good used toys should be given for the offering on that night. Milford Christian Church The first Living Christmas Tree program at the Christian Church of Milford will be presented on Friday. Saturday and Sunday. Dec. 17, 18 and 19. Tickets for the program may be reserved at no cost by calling the church office. A children’s program will be presented at 9:30 a m. during the Sunday School opening and during the worship hour at 10:30 am., a birthday party for Jesus will be held in the junior worship areas. New Salem The New Salem Church of the Brethren will hold a church wide caroling on Sunday, Dec. 19. at 3 pm. Refreshments may be served after the caroling Turkey Creek Members and interested people should meet at the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren.

Mennonite Church for a program on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Then on Wednesday, Dec. 22, a chili supper will be held at the church followed by caroling and fruit basket distribution. Many of the churches have also scheduled special services on Sunday, Dec. 26. These activities will be announced in next week's issue of The Mail-Journal.
