Thanksgiving theme for Tippecanoe Township Club
A ‘‘Thanksgiving Prayer" was read by Dorothea Kurth to open the November 17 meeting of Tippecanoe Township Club. The ladies met at the home of Betty Hinton. Webster Lake. Assistant hostesses were Goldie Hunnicutt and Jo Henry Roll call was answered by 26 members and five guests. Guests were Marilyn Hamilton, Millie Stevens, Mikey Kimmel, Rita Slankard and Blanche Mosier Group singing of ‘‘Over The River And Thro' The Woods" was led by Ruth Mickley Valeria Merkey reported that 22 members of the club had attended the fall luncheon A note from Judy Cutler, county president, was read by Dorothy Thornburg. Mrs. Cutler was a guest at the club’s October meeting The treasurer s report and an update on the Christmas bazaar was given by May Grodrian Minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Thornburg A brief group discussion was held pertaining ‘to the International Day luncheon held recently at Plymouth A carry-in dinner was served at noon with turkey and dressing as the main dish Mrs Hinton read the prayer poem, "Thank You God For Everything " "Happy Birthday" was sung to Pauline Gunkel. The new non-fiction books are: “Rising Sun” by John Toland, two volumes pertaining to the rise and fall of the Japanese Empire before and during World War II; "Courage And Hesitation,” by Allen Drury, about Richard Nixon's presidential administration; “Duty Os America" by Edmund Bolles, a pictorial guide of America; “Hard Times,” by Studs Turkel, a story of the great depression. Other non-fiction books are "The Implosion Conspiracy," by Lewis Nize, the story of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg; "The Selling Os The President 1968,” by Joe McGinniss, facts about Nixon’s 68 campaign; "The Papers And The Papers" by Sanford Unger, an account of the notorious Pentagon papers; "The Game Os The Foxes” by Ladislas Fargao, a saga of Nazi spies in America and Europe before and during World War 11. New fiction books are: “No Trumpet Before Him” and "Pink House,” both by Nelia White and "The Miricale Os The Bells” by Russell Tanney. There are five* new science fiction books available: "Two Thousand And One a Space Odyssey” and "The Fountains Os Paradise,” both by Arthur C. Clarke; “The Land That Time Forgot” a reprint of a book written by Edgar Rice Burroughs who also wrote the “Tarzan" stories; “Farnham’s Freehold” by Robert A. Heinlein and “Three Hainish Novels" by Ursula K. Le Guin. Polly Adkins explained how to store flower bulbs for the winter. Mrs. Scott told about her recent trip to London. England. Mrs. Martin read a short article pertaining to new laws governing women and credit. The health and safety report was given by Nancy Barker. It was announced that the club has received an award for participating in the Saint Jude Hospital Bike-A-Thon. Details were finalized for serving the President’s Council meeting luncheon on December at the Women’s building in Warsaw It was decided to provide Christmas gifts for two mental health patients. living free returns Many will remember the program of the Living Christmas Tree that was put on at the Milford High School under the direction of Joe Judkins. The Living Christmas Tree program will once again be presented in , Milford at the Christian Church on the evenings of December 17, 18 and 19. The Christian Church can comfortably seat 200 people per night and audience members must have a ticket to be seated. Tickets are available on a firstcome, first-served basis beginning December 1, at no charge. Everyone is invited to attend and may reserve tickets by calling the church office at 6589151.
