Husbands join Mary Circle for meeting

In lieu of its regular November meeting, the Mary Circle of Saint Andrew’s United Methodist 'Church met in the home of Mr. and Mrs, Lamar Stoops on October 27. Present were Dr. and Mrs. Howard Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Penn. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Metzler. Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Stoops. The slate is: Roberta Pittman — chairman Peggy Thomas — vice chairman Lois Allen — secretarytreasurer Joan Hann and Barbara Naab — reception chairmen A donation was sent to Elkhart Hospice in memory of Waneta Luttman, and the club's bedside tray will be given to the Elkhart Cancer Society. Gloria Frew announced the proposed theme for the 1983 bazaar is To Grandmother's House We Go. Several bazaar items were discussed.

Bruce Ough program director at Oakwood An effort by Indiana United Methodists to develop the church’s Oakwood Center, at Lake Wawasee, as a major spiritual retreat site took a step forward recently with the appointment of Rev. Bruce R. Ough as program director. The search for an Oakwood program director had been underway for several months. Officially the facility is known as the Oakwood Adult and Family Center. It is hoped Oakwood will become a major retreat- center, not only for Indiana United Methodists, but also for persons outside the state and from other denominations. Development will include physical facilities, spiritual formation environment, program and outreach. A United Methodist minister. Ough has, for the past three years, been a member of the program staff in the denomination's Dakotas Area. Mitchell. S.D. While only 31. he has received numerous awards and professional recognitions, with special interest in pastoral counseling, church administration and theology. Ough. who began his duties several weeks ago, is married and the father of three children. Making the announcement of Ough's appointment were Dr. Robert B. Hirschman of Indianapolis. president of the Oakwood board; and Indiana United Methodist Bishop James Armstrong, also of Indianapolis.
