NOV. 8.1972 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stieglitz of Milford were honored at an open house last Sunday in the fellowship hall of the Apostolic Christian Church in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. A number of persons called, to help them celebrate the occasion. Included in the out of town guests was Miss Lillian Kanter who stated she had taught all 10 of the Stieglitz children when they were in school. Eight of the 10 children were present for the day. Mrs. Esther Charlton and Mrs. Alice Baker, both of Milford, and Mrs. Gertrude Zentz of Nappanee returned Thursday, Nov. 2, from a month’s vacation in California. A family dinner was held Saturday evening celebrating the 10th birthday of Jennifer Rapp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rapp and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Miles of Syracuse. Attending guests were her paternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. William F. Rapp of Mishawaka. Rev. and Mrs. Forrest Ritzman, Mrs. Rudolph Grof and Miss Margaret Dockus, all of Akron, 0., were overnight guests Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Theo Beer at Milford. They were enroute to a church conference at Francesville. 30 YEARS AGO. NOV. 6,1952 General Dwight D. Eisenhower won the Presidential election, held the nation over on Tuesday, by a thumping landslide over his opponent Adlai E. Stevenson. The seventh grade English class had a Halloween party Friday morning. “Red cat — black cat" and other games were placed and refreshments were served ,Their teacher. Mrs. Williams, had a letter from a German boy which was translated for the class by Eugene Lange, sixth grade pupil. Mr and Mrs. Walter Kasper, of Milford, are announcing the engagement of their daughter. Miss L. Clariece Kasper, to Herbert A. Stump, son of Mr. and Mrs Orle Stump, of New Paris. The Rev. Adam Ingle resigned Sunday as pastor of the Milford Church of the Nazarene, and preached his farewell sermon Sunday evening His topic was “Lovje." using as the theme three words of scripture “God is Love." Rev Ingle will continue active in the ministry, although perhaps not accepting another charge until some further date.
His successor will be bringing his first message in Milford on Sunday, November 9, at 10:45 a,m. 59 YEARS AGO. NOV. 19,1932 Fire caused by a gasoline explosion at 7 o’clock Friday evening destroyed a shed and contents on the Sherman Colins farm located west pf the Caris school housed southwest of Milford. TheTarm is owned by George Fields. Many of the Milford fans drove to Syracuse Friday night where they saw the Peppermint Shooters fall before the attack of the Syracuse team. The Syracuse gym was filled to capacity with about 40 per cent being Milford fans. Mr. and Mrs. Howard McSweeny accompanied by his aunt of Chicago Heights, spent the weekend in Marietta, O. (2) freely accessible to persons for the purpose of committing unlawful acts. (3) or a harbor tor vagrants, criminals, or immoral persons (l) Whenever any building or structure has been constructed, exists, or is main tainod in violation of any specific requirement or prohibition applicable to such building or structure provided by the building regulations of this town, or of any law or ordinance of -this state or county relating to the condition, location, or structure of buildings. (m) Whenever any building or structure which, whether or not erected In accordance with all applicable laws and ordinances has In any non supporting part, member, or portion less than sixty six percent of the (I) strength. (2) fireresisting qualities or characteristics, or (3) weather resisting qualities or characteristics required by law in the case of a newly constructed building of like area, height, and occupancy in the same location (n) Whenever a building or structure, used or Intended to be used tor dwelling purposes, because of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, decay, damage, faulty construction or arrangements. Inadequate light, air or sanitation facilities, or otherwise, is determined by the Building Commissioner to be unsanitary. unfit for human habitation, or in such a condition that is likely to cause sickness or disease (o) Whenever any building or structure, because of obsolescence dilapidated con dltion. deterioration, damage. Inadequate exits, lack of sufficient fire resistive con struction, faulty electric wiring, gas con nections. or heating apparatus, or other cause, is determined by the Building Commissioner to be a fire hazard (p) Whenever any portion of a building or structure remains on a sjfe after the demolition or destruction of the building or structure or whenever any building or structure is abandoned for a period in excess of six months so as to constitute such building or portion thereof an attractive nuisance or hazard to the public. (q) Whenever any building or structure is In such a condition to constitute a public nuisance known to the common law or equity jurisprudence 6 The definition of "substantial property Interest" set forth in IC 36-7 9-2 is hereby incorporated by reference herein as if copied in full 7. All work for the reconstruction, alteration repair, or demolition of building and other structures shall be performed In a good workmanlike manner according to the accepted standards and practices In the trade. The provisions of the rules pertaining to construction, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and one and two family dwelling, promulgated by the Ad mlnistrative Building Council of Indiana, shall be considered standard and acceptable practice for all matters covered by this ordinance or orders issued pursuant to this ordinance by the Building Commissioner of the Town of Milford Junction.
