Elmore, Ohio; maternal greatgrandparents Mrs. Sophie Brinkman and Forrest Kardetski, both of Elmore and paternal great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith, Richmond. Milford, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, after he suffered an apparent heart attack just before his 1974 Buick crashed through the plate glass window of Pletcher's Furniture Store, Nappanee The accident occurred at 11:31a.m. He was transported by Nappanee Emergency Medical Service technicians to Elkhart Hospital where he died According to reports his auto was traveling east on West Market Street and crossed the roadway before striking the west window of the store Damage to the store window was set at 95,000 to SIO,OOO Retired Mechanic He was born on September 10, 1907, in Kokomo to Menno and Sarah Miller On August 11.1940, he married Edna King in Hannibal. Mo She survives. Miller was a retired auto mechanic for Stutzman Sunoco Station. Goshen and a member of Bethel Conservative Mennonite Church. Additional survivors include two other sons. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. in Bethel Conservative Mennonite Church. Rev. Homer Miller and Rev. John William Miller officiated and burial was in Bethel Church cemetery. Wright-Yoder Funeral Home. Nappanee, was in charge of arrangements. Laurence LeCount Brother Os Syracuse Woman Laurence B. LeCount, 67, r 1 Elwood, brother of Phyllis Sheline, Syracuse, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Sept. 15, in Mercy Hospital. Elwood. , He was born on July 22.1915, in LaGrange County and was a farmer. LeCount was also president of Boone Township Farm Bureau, director of Madison County Farm Bureau and a member of Boone Township Advisory board and Liberty Baptist Church, Sweetzer. Additional survivors include his wife, the former Roma Cole; one son. David, Elwood; a daughter, LaVonne Benton, Frankton; five grandchildren; another sister. Dorothy Rohrer. Goshen; and one brother, Kenneth LeCount. Millersburg Funeral services were held Saturday. Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. in the Copher and Fester Funeral Home, Elwood Rev Terry Murray officiated and burial was in Forrestville cemetery. William Goppert Former North Webster Policeman William W. Goppert. 86. 68615 CR 23 New Paris, a former North Webster policeman, died at 10; 15 pm. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in Goshen Hospital. He had been a patient for two days and had been ill eight months Goppert was born in North Webster on February 1, 1896. to John and Mary (Stookey) Goppert. On October 29. 1921, he married Edna Conner He moved to New Paris 10 years ago from Cromwell. He was a retired farmer and a member of the New Paris Church of the Brethren

Additional survivors include one son, Date, New Paris; five grandchilden, and 10 greatgrandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Clifford (Rose) Shoup, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the New Paris Church of the Brethren. Rev. J. Earle Hostetter officiated and burial was in New Paris cemetery.. Randal Siemer. 32, r 3 Columbia City, died Sunday, Sept. 19, at 9:30 a.m., at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on August 31. Siemer was a teacher at Wawasee High School, in the business department, during the 1979-80 and the 1980-81 school years. He was born June 7. 1950, at Springfield, Ohio, and on June 5, 1979, he married Sue Anne Walker, who survives. For the past two years he had been a teacher with the Churubusco School System. He was the brother-in-law of Stuart Walker. Syracuse. Other survivors include two sisters. Judith Perillo and Christi Vistodan, both of Fort Wayne; one brother, Mark Siemer, Fort Wayne, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs John Siemer, Angola. Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the McComb Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, and a memorial service was held at the Churubusco High School at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. The family requests memorials be made to the Siemer Scholarship Fund, the Churubusco High School Athletic Department or the Parkview Hospital Intensive Care Unit. John Lursen Retired Dalton r 4 >~. John Lursen, 83, 513 South Indiana, Warsaw, died Sunday, Sept. 19, at 1:23 p.m., in Kosciusko Community Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born September 5,1899, in Kesley, lowa. He was the son of Fred and Maggie (Buntjer) Lursen. On December 21, 1929, in Mishawaka, he married Marie McKibbin, who survives. Moving to Warsaw in 1930, from Mishawaka, he retired from Dalton Foundries. Inc. in 1965. after 15 years there. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hammond. Warsaw; two sons. Howard, Leesburg, and Fred, Mobile, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Other survivors are eight sisters, Mrs. Henry (Lizzie) Cassman, Dumont. lowa, Mrs. Earl (Minnie) Moore, Mrs. Clarence (Maggie) Fielding, Mrs. Harm (Gertie) Miller. Mrs. Vern (Frieda) McLaren, Mrs. John (Berdeana) Hana, all of Hampton. lowa, Mrs Henry i Hattie) Smith and Mrs. Harm (Ruth) Stebrandt, both of Kesley, Iowa; and two brothers, Oltman and Charles, both of Hampton, lowa. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Services were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the Chamness Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. David Mendenhall, pastor of Leesburg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Leesburg cemetery. Garfield Waldrop Father Os Syracuse Maa Garfield Waldrop. 65. 1318 Division Street. Goshen, died Saturday. Sept. 18, at 12:15 p.m. in Goshen Hospital, where he was admitted August 29 following an extended illness He was bom November 23. 1916, in Winston County, Ala. On December 3, 1938, he married Cleo Kennedy, who survives. He retired from Artco Metal Finishing, Goshen, and had been employed with the former Standard Plating Company. Goshen Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Mrs David (Jenell) Bemenderfer, Goshen ; two sons, David, Syracuse, and Charles D„ Goshen; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Jake (Billie) Gross, Cromwell, Mrs. Floys (Atha) Trapp, Sidney, Mrs. Darrell (Maine) Evans, DeGroff, Ohio, Mrs. G. V. (Ehrie) Vines, Loretta, Tenn., and Mrs. Doyle (Tommy Jo) Graves. Ethridge. Tenn.; and two brothers, D. C. Waldrop, Jasper, Ala., and Rev. E. K. Waldrop. Newport. Tenn. A daughter, a brother and a sister all preceded him in death. Services were held Tuesday. Sept. 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, with Rev. Charles Towriss, pastor of the Church of God, North Webster, of which Waldrop was a member, officiating.

Bockman, 90, North Webster, died at 11:50 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Alfran Nursing Home, Columbia City. Death was due to complications and he had been failing in health for some time. He was born in North Webster on Aug”st 13.1892, to William H. and Elizabeth A. (Willard) Bockman. On June 1, 1912, he married the former Irmah B. Ritchison. She preceded him in death in 1977. A lifetime resident of North Webster, he owned and operated White Front Grocery for many years. He was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, Nights of Pythias Lodge, charter member of the North Webster Fire Department and charter member of the North Webster Lions Club. Survivors include three sons. Verland and John, both of North Webster and Ray, Warsaw; one daughter, Martha Bockman, at home; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchikiren; and one sister, Mrs. Lura Black, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Funeral services were conducted Monday. Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. in the North Webster United Methodist Church. Rev. O. Clay Devault Former Syracuse Resident Dios Clay Devault. 77, 3565 Fawn Cove, Portage, Mich., a former Syracuse resident, was pronounced dead on arrival at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. Sept. 21. at the Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Mich. Death was due to complications of a heart condition. He was born in Dayton. Tenn., on February 29, 1905, and was married on January 27, 1927, in Lansing, Mich., to the former Georgie Grisamer of Syracuse. She survives. Devault had lived in Portage for one month moving there from Dayton, Tenn. He lived in Syracuse 15 years prior to moving back to Dayton. He had retired 15 years ago from Rock Wool Plant, Wabash. Additional survivors include one son, Duane. Portage; five grandchildren; three sisters, Junita Kerley, Kate Marler and Mrs. Arthur (Ziller) Morgan, all of Dayton, Tenn.; one brother. Emmitt Devault, Dayton, Tenn One son preceded him in death. Shearer. 81, Garden Court West Apt., Plymouth, mother of North Webster summer resident Dewey Shearer, Marion, died at 4:27 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Parkview Hospital, Plymouth. She had been in failing health for the past four weeks She was born in Carroll County on December 17,1900, to John and Florinda Rose (Eller) Webster. On March 16. 1920. she married Russell D. Shearer in Plymouth. He preceded her in death on December 24.1970

Mrs. Shearer was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, a member of the Marshall County Parkview Hospital Auxiliary and had spent most of her life in the Plymouth area. Additional survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eileen Thomas, Plymouth, Mrs. Jeanette Doran, Parma, Ohio, and Mrs. Gwen Scheetz, Argos; 17 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Crothers, Mishawaka; four half-sisters, Mrs. Beulah Sherman, Titusville, Fla., Mrs. Mildred Decker, Plymouth, Mrs. Evelyn Claeys, Bremen and Mrs. Phyllis Cook, Goshen; and four half-brothers, Robert, Francis, David and R. Clarence Webster, all of Plymouth. One grandson and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Friends may call from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, and in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren from noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday. JAYCEETTES BIKE-A-THON — Six members of the Milford Jayceettes participated in a bike-a-thon on Sunday, Sept 19, at 1 a.m. with proceeds going toward the Tonda and Lisa Hewitt fund. The women were responsible for acquiring their own sponsors for the 20-mile route around the Milford area. Participating in the bike-a-thou were Cindy Kaiser. Becky Hamilton, Kathy Beer. Ann Sawyer, Kim Freeman and Darcey Mock. Jerry Kozon was unable to ride so she was responsible for driving the van equipped with water and first aide supplies in case of an emergency. Milford EMS The Milford Emergency Medical Service made the following calls last week: On Wednesday, Sept. 15, a female, 72, suffering from shortness of breath was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. On Monday. Sept. 20, a female, 66. was taken to Goshen Hospital for direct admission. On Tuesday, Sept. 21, a female, 60, complaining of lower leg pain was transmitted to Goshen Hospital. Syracuse EMS The Syracuse Emergency Medical Service responded to the following calls this past week: On September 15 at 4:50 p.m. the EMS transported Claud Boland, 75, r 1 box 375 Cromwell, to Goshen Hospital after he became ill at his home. At 12:12 p.m. on September 17 the EMS transported Molly Hanson, 5-year old daughter of Sally Hanson, Syracuse, to Goshen Hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained when she was hit by a car on Boston Street, Syracuse. On September 17 at 3:10 p.m. the EMS was called to 119 North Street, Syracuse, where Bob Kipp, 28, had been injured when he fell and embedded part of a decorative fence in his arm. The EMS treated his wounds and transported him to Goshen Hospital. The EMS was called to an accident one-half mile north of 1000 on 500E at 11:51 p.m. on September 17. Lisa Pederson, 16, r 3 box 559 Syracuse, and Karen Campbell, 16, r 2 box 512 Leesburg, were injured in the accident and transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. On September 18 at 8:23 a.m. Betty Coy, 56, r 3 box 474 Syracuse, became ill at her home and the EMS transported her to Goshen Hospital. Barbara Howard, 31, r 2 Syracuse, became ill at her home on September 18. The EMS was called at 11:43 a.m. and transported her to Kosciusko Community Hospital. On September 20 at 9:35 p.m. Cheryl Lundy. 22, 600 North Indiana Avenue, Syracuse, an employee of Classic Form Products. Syracuse, was brought to the Fire Station for treatment of an injury sustained with a utility knife. The EMTs cleaned the wound, applied ice and advised her to go to Goshen Hospital for further treatment. At 3:42 p.m. on September 10 Dr. Meyers called the EMS to r 2 box 386 Syracuse, to transport Uene Buck, 82, from her home, where she was ill, to Goshen Hospital. On September 21, at 5:50 p.m., Wendi Wiles, 9-year oH daughter of Gary and Debbie Wiles, 200 Chicago Street, Syracuse, was injured in a fall. The EMTs splinted her leg. At 7:45 p.m., September 21, the EMS was called to the Wawasee High School football field, where Daniel O’Haver, 12, 612 South Main. Syracuse, had been injured (hiring a junior high football game. The EMTs placed the patient on a backboard and transported him,,to Goshen Hospital.
