Syracuse, from 3-7 p.m. Sunday. Aug. 8. The couple requests that gifts be omitted. They were married by Mrs. Cable's uncle. H. L. Hartsough, at Camp Alexander Mack. Milford, on June 21, 1942. Currently Cable is Rotary District 654 Governor of Northern Indiana. He is a member of the Church of the Brethren Brotherhood General Board and a past chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Bethany Hospital in Chicago. The family did seed farming in Benton Township. Elkhart County, from 1946 to 1978. They are active in state and national seed organizations. Extension Service. 4-H, scouting. New Paris and Fairfield Schools. Soil and Water Conservation. Federal Land Bank. Rock Run Church of the Brethren and district and national church organizations. William Hayes receives Lohman scholarship William B. Hays, Syracuse, a student at Manchester College, has been awarded a “Carroll P. and Hazel R. Lahman Memorial Scholarship” for use in attending Manchester College during the 1982-83 school year. The scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Carroll Lahman, an outstanding speech teacher for 37 years in four colleges, and his wife. Manchester College, located in North Manchester, is a 93-year-old four year liberal arts school which is affiliated with the national body of the Church of the Brethren. Fla., formerly of the Goshen-Syracuse area will be honored at an open house, celebrating their 50th anniversary. August 1,2-5 p.m., at the Western Rubber Union Hall. Goshen. Hosting the celebration are the Jones’ children and spouses: Richard Jones, Fort Myers. Fla.; Pat Feldman, Edwardsburg, Mich.; Alice Greve, Atwater, Calif.: Larry Jones. Goshen; and Judy Popenfoose. Sryacuse. The couple has 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. They were married November 19. 1932. Mrs. Jones retired from Goshen Rubber Company and Mr. Jones from Lechlitner Motor Sales. Goshen. They moved to Florida in 1966. Waubee Lake Association gets officers, but no president
The Waubee Lake Association elected several officers at its July 15 meeting, but will remain without a new president until its meeting on August 2. Incoming Secretary-Treasurer Bill Troup said several people were nominated for the position of president at the meeting, but none accepted the job, Arden Ball was elected vice president of the association, while Troup was elected to the position of secretary-treasurer. Arley Waggy, Bill Staff and Leon Newman were each named to the association's board of directors, joining standing board members Dan Schwab, Jim Showalter. Jack Maher and Tom Bulger. A meeting will be held to determine the association's new Baby shower held for Mrs. Steven Miller Mrs. Tim (Kim) Levernier held a baby shower in honor of Mrs. Steven (Sharleen) Miller in her home on July 18 at 2 in the af"temoon. Fifteen guests attended the two-hour event co-hosted by Janet Bowser. Games were played and among gifts received were blankets, sleepers, a diaper pail, lotions, soap and a diaper bag. For refreshments, the women served punch, a cheeseball with crackers and a dessert. Among the guests were Mrs. Miller's mother. Marge Kaiser, and her mother-in-law. Partha Miller. Julia Reed entertains Mrs. Julia Reed, Milford, entertained members of Sigma Omega Sigma Sorority and one guest at a 12:30 luncheon on the afternoon of July 21. There are 10 remaining members, six from Elkhart, three from California and one from Milford. Those attending were Mrs. Ari Swift, Miss Sarah Johnson. Miss Lou Baumgartner, Mrs. Ruth Wood. Mrs. Lavina Mier, Mrs. Elizabeth O'Brien, all of Elkhart; and guest. Mrs. Doral Me Farren of Milford. The afternoon was spent reminiscing, taking pictures, showing pictures and Mrs. Reed produced her invitation to join the sorority, which was dated September 30.1931. Mr. and Mrs. John Replogle and Mr. and Mrs. Doral McFarren were supper guests.

Successful 4-H'ers have farm tour By LISA KAISER The Successful 4-H’ers of Milford enjoyed a farm tour recently after a meeting at the home of Lisa Kaiser. Before the tour, a short business meeting was called to order by vice president, Scott Templin with Terry Templin leading the pledge of allegiance and Lisa Kaiser was asked to lead the 4-H pledge. Greg Kaiser, leader of the club, handed out fair books and signed record books. Fair plans and project judging were discussed wish Terry Templin winning the door prize. The group then started the farm tour. Lisa Kaiser showed her hogs and steer. She gave a demonstration entitled, “How to Win Swine Showmanshy).” The 4H’ers then continued to the farms of Scott, Kristi and Terry Templin; Kevin Beer; Todd Boggs; and Marie, Kenney, Debra and David Schafer. Each member told about livestock while the club visited the farms. Joyce Browning becomes Mrs. Todd Haines July 25
Joyce Browning of Indianapolis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Browning, r 1 New Castle, became the bride of Todd Hames, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Haines, r 1 Leesburg, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, in the First Christian Church of New Castle. The double-ring ceremony was attended by 200 guests and officiated by Rev. Robert Stauffer. A variety of palm branches adorned the altar with sprays of palm branches accenting the candela bras. Selections of music, provided by Dorothy Pfenninger, were: “The Wedding Song,” “For You Alone,” “Where’er You Walk,” “Krumhom,” “Somewhere My Love” and “Deep Purple.” The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white knit chiffon over taffeta gown with an A-line skirt flowing into a cathedral-length train and accented at the hemline by a wide scalloped band of Chantilly lace bordered at the top and bottom by re-embroidered chantilly lace. Appliques of rayon Venice and chantilly lace adorned the skirt with a natura’ waisted bodice of chantilly lac< .'eaturing a Queen Anne neckline, traditional drop V-front and long bishop sleeves with bridal cuffs. The bodice and sleeves were appiiqued in rayon Venice lace and sprinkled with pearls and sequins. She wore a cap appiiqued with Venice lace and accented with pearls and sequins with a finger-tip veil and she carried a bouquet of blue roses, baby breath, lily of the valley, hill flower, stephanotis and ivy. Mrs. Jeff (Janet) Strauch, sister of the bride from Anderson, served as matron of honor and wore a light blue gown featuring a wrap-look bodice tapering into thin straps with a long accordianpleated skirt. A waist-length sheer blue overlay fastened at the neck and was accented with a single blue applique at the centerfront neck. She carried a nosegay of blue roses, baby breath, lily of the valley, stephanotis and ivy. Mrs. William Hoyt, Indianapolis, Susan Conley, Indianapolis, and Rotan Dillon, Muncie, were bridesmaids wearing gowns and carrying flowers identical to the matron of honor’s. The bride’s nieces, Jennifer Ellis of Richmond and Jamie Martin of Mooreland served as flower girls. Tyler Haines, r 1 Leesburg, attended the bridegroom as best man and David Shideler, Fort Wayne; Donald Minear, North Webster; and Phillip Jenks, Leesburg, -were groomsmen. Jeffrey Strauch of Anderson were ushers. A reception followed the ceremony in the great hall of the First Christian Church with Karen Martin and Karen Rowland serving cake while Judy Ridout poured punch. The threetiered cake was decorated with bells, cupids and blue roses and raised over a fountain of flowing water. Stairways lined with blue silk flowers arched from the second tier down to two twotiered cakes on either side of the larger cake and were also decorated with bells, cupids and blue roses. The bride received a BS in accounting from Ball State University and the bridegroom also received his BS in accounting from BSU and is presently attending law school at Notre Dame. He is employed as an accountant at Plummer and Co. (rs Warsaw. After -a Virginia Beach honeymoon, the couple will reside at 2117 Coachmans Trail in South Bend.

NEW HAIR STYLIST AT THE ADDED TOUCH — Shaun a McDonald. Syracuse, a 1982 graduate of the vocational cosmetology class at Fairfield High School and Wawasee High School, has been added to the staff at the Added Touch styling salon in Syracuse. Shauna will be training under the salon owner, Anita Wooten, for the month of August and begin taking appointments August 31.
