Sounds like on easy enough question doesn t it? An eskimo would point to his igloo. A hermit would gesture toward his cave A suburbanite would look ot his bilevel A city-dweller might look up ot the 20th floor of a high-rise, apartment. All of these people ore correct since they live at those places. A city zoning ordinance that states that residences only shall be put up in a certain area of land could conceivably include any or all types of residences It is for this reason that most ordinances are quite specific with regard to the types of residences that can be built.

Regarding this matter people sometimes ask if they are allowed to take in boarders, wondering if this would be a violation of residence only restrictions. If the owner lives there himself he can normally do this UNLESS the restriction states that only one private family can occupy the building. However if he turns the whole place into an apartment building or rooming house he violates the restrictions because it is no longer his residence It is a business This would also apply to tourist homes.
