Hoosier Open at Camelot this week Water Ski, Inc. will be sponsoring the Hoosier Open three event tournament this weekend at Camelot Lakes near Milford. A total of 130 contestants are expected to enter the two days of events. Competition will begin each day at 7:30 a.m. Camelot Lakes is the site of the Indiana State Championships and the Mid-west Regional Ski Championships later this month.

Camelot ski team, at tourney Three members of the Camelot ski team attended a ski tournament at Mishawaka on Saturday, June ». Brad Smith placed first in jump and second in slalom and tricks. He scored 1200 points in tricks which is his highest score to date. Paula Smith took first in jump and tricks. She received an exceptional performance rating in both of these events which qualified her to ski in the national tournament in August. Her trick score was a personal high of 2360. Todd Smith captured first in the boys jumping event, fourth in tricks and sixth in slalom. Seven members of the Camelot ski team are qualified to ski in the regional championships scheduled for July 30-31 and August 1 at Camelot Lake. The state tournament is scheduled for July 23-25 at Camelot Lake. An area for spectators is available at the lake. Regatta at Tippy July 3 The Lake Tippecanoe Sailing Club held its Fourth of July Regatta on Saturday, July 3, on Lake Tippecanoe. Preceding the races, which were delayed, the skippers and families gathered in the home of M. E. and Florence Van Meter for brunch. There were over 50 people attending the event, despite rain. The first race was delayed until 2 p.m. but then three races in good winds were held without any rain interference. Skippers. 19 in all and their crews, had their boats ready for the competition. Results In the Hobie 16-foot class there was a battle, but Fred Buckingham, Goshen, with father George as crew, came out on top. Jason Davidson, Leesburg, and father Ken as crew, came in a close second. Next was Howard Johnson, Euclid, Ohio, with daughter Diana as crew. In fourth place was Stevie Black, South Bend with Pat Bowers as crew. Tied for fifth place and only one point behind Black were Bruce and Shelley Maish, Leesburg, and Mike Hearn, Warsaw, and Clark Charlton as his crew. Only one point behind them was Mark Middleworth, Marion, with Sally Batina as crew. In the Hobie 14-foot class, Phil Jung, Converse, was first; J.B. Van Meter, Warsaw, second; and Jim Murray, Leesburg, third. Super Porpoise Class winners were Aarik Bundy, Anderson, assisted by his father John, was first, John Hayes, Leesburg, second; and Jim Hayes, Leesburg, third. In the Open Class division, Matt Hamer, Carmel with Will Cunningham as his crew and sailing in a Rascal was first; Chris Brown, Chicago Heights, sailing a Dagger, came in second; and Steve and Gail Hart, Kokomo, sailing a Sunbird, were third. The next races will be held on Sunday, July IS. Junior races will be held on Saturday, July 17.

Jeff Conden tripled in the contest, while Brian Rensberger doubled. The Syracuse Pony League team Thursday defeated Fairfield by a score of 12-2. The Girls’ Softball Travel team last week downed Millersburg 74, while in Minor League Girls’ Softball action. Liberty defeated Syracuse Rubber 21-5. In Babe Ruth league games, Wawasee defeated West Noble 94, and fell to Wolcottsville 11-6. In Boys’ Youth League Major League games, Pilcher Shoes downed South Shore 9-8, Rotarydefeated State Bank 14-2. and South Shore topped State Bank 26-8. In Minor League games, Miller Brothers defeated Ace Hardware 14-3, and Kiwanis downed Fire Department 10-8. In last week’s T-Ball games, K and K Insurance edged Love Furniture 22-21, Thornburg Drugs topped Sroufe Manufacturing 31-22, T-Shirts Unlimited defeated Quackers 27-19, and Thornburg Drugs topped Klink’s Market 27-13. T-Shirts Unlimited and Thornburg Drugs lead the T-Ball standings with 4-1 records, while K and K Insurance stands at 2-1, and Quackers and Love Furniture are tied at 3-2. Youth 'A C The North Webster Fire Department defeated Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware in a pair of Girls’ Minor League games last week. Fire Department won a June 30 contest by a score of 10-8. Michelle Dick went 2-for-4 for Fire Department, while Michelle White went 3-for-3. On July 1, Fire Department again downed Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware, this time by a score of 11-5. Melinda Reavis was the Fire Department’s hitting star, going 3-for-4, and Michelle White and Michelle Dick both went 2-f<r-3.
