Over 100 women participated in the Ladies Invitational Guest Day golf tournament South Shore Golf Club Tuesday. June 29. Awards were presented to the top five teams and individual awards were presented to Jackie Wortinger for low gross and closest to pin. Lillian Toppin for low net, Joan Gray for low putts, and Karen Caudill for longest drive The winning team members were Gloria Stoffel, Gladys Anderson. The Syracuse Boys' Travel team captured the Mermaid Festival Youth League Tourney last week with a pair of convincing wins over South Whitley and New Paris Mike VanDiepenbos and Jack Pond combined to no-hit South Whitley in the team’s opening 5-0 victory Brian Rensberger homered m the contest. Rensberger homered again in Friday night's championship game to lead Syracuse to a 14-5 win Rensberger collected six hits in seven times to the plate in the tourney Jack Bond also homered in the final game. On Sunday, the Travel team won their opening game in a tournament at Argos by staging a late inning rally to down Culver 43 All four runs came in on five consecutive last inning hits and a sacrifice fly by Dan O'Haver In Syracuse Youth League Major League games last week, American Legion downed Pilcher

Kiwanis defeated Ace Hardware 8-4, and Miller Brothers beat Fire Department 20-9 The Wawasee Babe Ruth League team downed LimaBrighton 18-11. The Syracuse Pony League team shut out Fairfield 11-0. and then fell to North Webster 12-4 The Girls' Softball Travel team topped South Whitley 15-5. In Minor League Softball games. Liberty edged Syracuse Rubber 18 17. and then fell to Sea Nymph 23-17. In Syracuse T-Ball games last week. Klinks downed Bales 20-12, Love Furniture topped Sroufe 199. T-Shirts Unlimited defeated K and K Insurance 21-13, Thornburg Drugs downed Bales 1° 7. Love Furniture topped Quackei -s 25-17 and T-Shirts Unlimited beat Sroufe 15-7 Quackers, Love Furniture and T-Shirts Unlimited currently lead in T-Ball League standings with 3-1 records, followed by Klinks and Thornburg Drugs at 2-1. ANNUAL YARD AND BAKE SALE — Papakeechie Protective Association members are getting ready for their annual yard and bake sale Saturday and Sunday. July 3 and 4. from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the old fish hatcheries site on Old Road 8. Yard sale items will be set up at the association's fish ponds, west of the bait shop, and the bake goods will be in the old fish hatcheries building. Weight program to begin at WHS July 5 Coach Myron Dickerson has announced a weight conditioning program at WHS which is scheduled to begin July 5. The program will be held three days a week on Mondays. Wednesday’s and Thursdays The program is designed for all persons interested in a structured conditioning program. Dickerson welcomes all incoming freshman to attend the sessions ■ especially those who plan to play football next fall. Agility drills will be held outside from 6 to 7 p.m. For more information on participating in the program, contact Dickerson at the high school.

Carousel opens tonight at Enchanted Hills Playhouse
The Rodgers and Kammerstein classic, “Carousel'’ will open tonight (Wednesday) at the Enchanted Hills Playhouse. "Carousel” is a musical centered around a 19th century New England fishing village. The musical begins as a love story between Billy Bigelow —a carnival barker — and Julie Jordan. The storyline changes quickly, though, when Billy is killed. His return to earth involves a mission to redeem himself of his wrongdoings and in helping his young daughter to overcome her own misery. Brian Damson of Cincinnati's

Conservatory of Music is featured in the role of BUiy Bigelow. The role of Julie Jordan is performed by Myrona DeLaney, an actress from Chicago where she was in the World Premiere of the new musical "Spin Cycle.” In her second year at Enchanted Hills, Myrona DeLaney traveled in the midwest tour of "He Lived The Good Life.” "Carousel" will run tonight thru Sunday, July 11.
