Spring party for Leesburg Homemakers Leesburg Home Ec Club held its spring party last Wednesday at a Wakarusa restaurant. There were 21 members and two guests present. After the meal bunco was played with prizes going to the winners. Kathi Replogle becomes May 1 bride of David Shaffer
Following a wedding trip to Hilton Head. S. C., the new Mr and Mrs. David Shaffer are residing in Milligan. Tenn. Kathi Replogle, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Replogle of r 1 Syracuse, and David Shaffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Shaffer of Greensburg. .Pa., were married at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. May 1. in the Christian Church of Milford. Two hundred persons attended the double-ring ceremony. Carl Shearer, pastor of the church, officiated before an altar decorated with white carnations and daisies and candelabra decorated with matching bouquets. Dick Fehnel served as organist. The brides sister. Becky Replogle, was soloist and. sang. “All The Time.” “Do You Know What It's Like,” and “The Lord's Prayer.” Miss Replogle was accompanied by Jennie Barwick The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white chiffon over taffeta high-waisted gown featuring a lace bodice with seed pearls scattered throughout the chiffon butterfly sleeves A lace caplet with scattered seed pearls held the chiffon veil which was embossed with small flowers She carried a bouquet of white carnations and rosecolored rosebuds with small blue cornflowers scattered among them. Brenda Replogle, sister of the bride, served as maid of .honor She wore a light blue qiana gown, floor-length with spaghetti straps The dress featured a sleeveless jacket of light blue chiffon print in blue with rosecolored flowers She wore a light blue hat with a flower on the brim and carried a bouquet of white carnations with rose-colpred rosebuds and blue cornflowers Bridesmaids were Mrs Brad Moore of Effingham, 11l ; Lynn Ball State students honored Two Kosciusko County students were honored by the Department of Secondary Education of Ball State University's Teachers College and recaved certificates of recognition at the department s annual awards banquet They are Ted Knudsen, son of Mr. and Mrs Robert Knudsen of Syracuse, and Aurea Rose, daughter of Mr. anu Mrs Amado Roa of Milford Knudsen, a 1978 Wawasee High School graduate, is majoring in physical education Aurea Roa. also a 1978 Wawasee High School graduate, is earning a teaching major in Spanish

Plant sale planned at next garden club meeting
Mrs Carlos Porter was hostess to the Syracuse-Wawasee Garden Club Tueday evening. April 4. and Mrs. Donald Robbins was assistant hostess. Mrs Porter presented the program on “Annual Flowering Vines ' The next meeting will be in the home of Mrs Larry Harkleroad Tuesday. June 8. at 7:30 p.m and will feature a plant sale All plants need to be labeled and include tips for growing them. Cathy Kammerdiener honored at buffet Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener, Syracuse, was hostess at a buffet supper on Sunday, May 23, following commencement exercises at Wawasee High School, honoring her daughter, Cathy. There were 40 guests present from Goshen. Warsaw. Cromwell and Syracuse. Miss Kammerdiener’s father. Lloyd, was unable to attend as he continues to recuperate at Goshen Hospital following a recent accident. The back featured a dropped waistline and the gown had full bishop sleeves. The full skirt was trimmed with matching lace and a crystal pleating ruffle. A chapel-length train followed.. The bride's veil was waltz length with pearls. Bridesmaids wore gowns of aqua ribbon knit They featured spaghetti straps and short sleeve jackets. A reception followed the cermeony at the church.
