Youngsters don't have to put away the books
When school lets out for summer vacation, youngsters don't have to put away the books The North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Library has summer reading activities planned for local children. A reading contest will be held throughout the summer for children from preschool to eighth grade. Starting June 8. the library will keep track of how many books each child reads At the end of the summer, the boy and girl in each age group who have read the most books will receive a prize The age groups are preschool, kindergarten and first grade, second and third grades, fourth and fifth grades and sixth through eighth grade Prizes will be awarded August 24 Julia Rhodes is in charge of the summer reading contest.

The North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Library will also hold a story hour each week in which a short story will be read to children. Other fun-type of activities are also planned for the weekly story hour. Kids aren’t the only ones who can enjoy the special library activities during summer months. An adult reading interest group is being formed. Starting in June, the group will meet the first Saturday morning of each month and informally discuss over coffee various books they have read A sign-up sheet is at the library for anyone interested in being part of the reading interest group Rev. Dean McFadden, librarian, will have special book displays at the library to increase awareness of the wide variety of books available at the library. “A lot of books sit on the shelf and aren’t

Township Library will have new summer hours starting June 1. The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday and Tuesdayevening from 7 to 9 p.m.
