Milford plans many activities for Memorial Day weekend
Memorial Day week end is an activityfilled week end for all three Lakeland communities, but especially for Milford A bazaar and bake sale, road run. open house. Little League tourney, merchants' drawings (no purchase necessary*, breakfast, parade, memoriaj service and chicken barbecue are planned for Memorial Day week end The activities are spearheaded by the Milford Area Development Council (MAD*. Saturday Events The Milford Jaycees will sponsor the second annual Milford MAD Dash Saturday, May 29. at 9 a m , starting and finishing at Waubee Lake Park. Runners will have their choice of oarticipating in the 10,000-meter race or the two-mile fun run

Categories for female runners are age 18 and under. 19 to 29 and 30 and over Male runners will be divided into categories of age 14 and under. 15 to 19.20 to 29. 30 to 39. 40 to 49 and 50 and over. Trophies will be awarded to the top female and male runners and medallions will go to the top three places in each age group. Also, beginning at 9 a m on Saturday will be the community bazaar and bake sa! p The sale will continue until 3p m at the Milford Community Building. Proceeds will go to the community building fund. The First National Bank will hold its open house and a free fish fry from 11 am. to3p.nv

There will be three MAD merchants’ drawings Saturday afternoon at 1. 2 and 3. No purchase is necessary. Persons may register at participating stores in Milford until 12 noon on Saturday. At that time, the boxes will be collected and taken to the community building where drawings will be taken from each merchant’s box. A variety of prizes will be given away. The Milford Little League tourney will get underway at 1 p.m. at the ball diamond The tourney will continue at the same time on Sunday and Monday. Monday Activities Activities will get an early start on Monday, May 31, with a breakfast, sponsored by the Order of the Eastern Star from 5.30 to 9:30 am. at the Masonic Temple

The annual Memorial Day parade, sponsored by the American Legion, marches off at 10 a m. at the Milford Junior High. The parade will conclude at the Milford cemetery where Memorial Day services will be held at 11 a m. A parade can work up one’s appetite and the MAD-sponsored chicken bar- * becue will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. to satisfy everyone's hunger. The barbecue will be held at the Milford Community Building. In conjunction with the barbecue, the Baseball Boosters will hold a bake sale, also from 12 noon to 2 p.m., at the community building. Proceeds will go to the Youth League. The Youth League tourney finals will begin at 1 p.m. and wrap up a busy week end for the Milford community.
