COOKIE CRUNCHERS — These •tadewto la Pania Popenfoose’s fifth grade class at Milford Junicr High toured the Zimmert>Corporation. Kosciusko Communitv Hospital and the new Justice Building in Warsaw last Friday. The class formed a cookie company and sold cookies for the purpose of practicing fractions. The profits paid for the tour, Representatives of the class stand in the school kitchen where th y hak.M the cookies. Three area students received their degrees at the tilth commencement at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, May 8. Receiving degrees were Robert F. Johnson, Syracuse; Mary Lou Kit son. Syracuse; and Juan J Josette Glon pledges Delta Xi Josette Glon, Syracuse, recently became a pledge of Delta Xi Chapter of Delta Gamma fraternity for women at Ball State University, Muncie. Miss Glon, a freshman, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Glon, r 4 box 351A Syracuse. She is a natural resources major and a graduate of Wawasee High School »

Carvajal, Milford. Johnson, whose Syracuse home is at 226 Nortlf Stance Drive, graduated with a MS degree in music. Miss Kitson, of 481 Parkway Drive. Syracuse, received a BS degree in physical education and Carvajal, of 110 East Emeline. Milford, received a BS degree in music education. Heather Beer initiated into honor society Heather Mary Beer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Beer of r 1 box 175 Milford, was one of 209 students at Purdue University to be initiated into Alpha Lambda Delta freshman scholastic honor society recently. The honor society is open to any student who achieved at least a 5.5 grade-point average during the first semester of the freshman year. A six-point grade index is perfect. Youths caught siphoning gas James Lee Coplin, 21, r 1 Cromwell and a 16-year-old Syracuse boy were caught shortly after they siphoned gasoline from a parked vehicle in the Dewart Lake area Wednesday morning. May 12. Coplin was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of theft and county officials recommended that probation officials file a charge of conversion against the Syracuse youth. At 2 a m. Wednesday morning the county police department called and made a report on individuals in a car acting suspicious. When County Patrolmen Sam Whitaker and Michael Hobbs arrived in the Dewart Lake area, they boxed in the auto near an area golf course, at Syracuse.

Drama club to present 'Alice in Wonderland'

Members of the Lakeland Youth Center Drama Club will be presenting the play, “Alice in Wonderland,” on Saturday. May 22, at 10:30 a.m. in the Wawasee High School auditorium. WHALE APPRECIATION — Cindy Kaber’s first grade class at Milford Elementary School has just completed a study on whales. The students colored these special educational pages telling about the problems that confront the whale today. The “red reading group" also learned other facts about the mammals.
