LOUISA’S LETTER
Dear Louisa. 1 am seventeen years old and 1 had been going steady with this boy for two years. To be truthful I had begun to be tired of seeing just one boy all of the time and never having a date with anyone else so 1 decided we should date someone else every now and then and my boy friend agreed. Now ray problem is thisR. is dating another girl all of the time and has stopped calling me. This burns me up and its not that 1 am so crazy about him but who does he think he is to pass me up for some little nobody who is not as nice looking as 1 am or not as popular. How do you think 1 can get him back? E.E.- N.Y. Answer: Your letter sounds to me like one from a selfish person who is eaten up with jealousy. I think it was a very good decision for both of you
Why is baby crying?
By PATRICIA RATHBUN Extension Agent. Home Ec You’ve just had your first baby and you're walking on air. But. you probably have a lot of questions, too — like w’hy is the baby crying again'’ Hunger is the most common cause. Loneliness is probably the second most common reason, especially after the. first few months Some babies cry only because they are tired Actual pain from an open diaper pin or colic is much less common But. some babies have attacks of crying from colic nearly every evening, usually between 6pm and 10 p.m During such attacks, they frown, their faces redden and they draw their legs up The loud screaming sounds quite different from the cries of hunger or loneliness The crying may continue from two to 20 minutes even when the baby is picked up and comforted The attack may end suddenly , or soft crying may last a few minutes after the hard crying stops Just as the baby is about to fall asleep, another attack may occur Gas may rumble in the stomach and be passed through the system. No one knows what causes such attacks or why they occur at about the same time every day But. be sure to tell your doctor if your child is crying more than usual Your doctor will want to know at what time of day your child cries, how long it lasts, whether there seems to be pain, if you do anything that makes it better or worse, for how manyday’s the crying has lasted and whether your infant seems sick or uncomfortable in any other way The more you can tell the
to begin seeing other people and having dates with others, for several reasons. One is that judging from your letter, your principal interest m this boy was%i having an escort and that you were really not too fond of him. Your pride has been hurt byrealizing that you couldn't keep him dangling on a string and now you are taking your resentment out on the girl he has chosen to date. Jealousy and resentment can destroy the person who nurtures such feelings and by dwelling on this and thinking and saying unkind things about others you are harming yourself. Forget this old attachment and learn to enjoy other people. Louisa Address: Leaisa, Bex 532, Oreegeberg, S. C. 291 IS
