Spwitoifl Worts of WisdomHow to get ahead
By G. EDWARD GEANS Minister It is all in your head. The key to getting ahead in life is found inside the gray matter that lies between our ears. Columbia University conducted a survey and found that successful executives have four things in common. They all have skill, knowledge, intelligence and a good attitude. It is an impressive list of qualities. But the survey panted out that skill, knowledge and intelligence, combined, rated a low seven per cent in importance for success and attitude ratal in high 93 per cent! It sounds like learning to get ahead in life means learning how BIBLE VERSE “The wise man's eyes are in his head: but the fool walketh in darkness. ",, 1. Who was the author of this wise saying? 2. to get along with others, with your problems and with the world in general. One public relation survey indicated that 90 per cent of the people who fail at their life’s vocation fail because of an inability to get along with other people. Have you found that you can't seem to get ahead? Has it seemed that you are never able to make any progress? You try to experience victory in your personal and professional life, but it never seems to happen. Somehow true achievement always happens to the “next guy.” Have you ever thought it might be vour attitude? Perhaps we can all learn from the following insights: 1. Life is a mixture of good days and bad. victory and defeat, joy and sorrow, give and take (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). 2. It doesn’t pay to take life too seriously or too personally, and that being too sensitive is only a form of egotism (Philippians 2:34).. 3. He who loses his temper usually loses’ out (Proverbs 14:29). 4 Everyone has burnt toast for breakfast now and then and no one has a monopoly on suffering (1 Corinthians 10:13). 5. Carrying our feelings on our shoulder is the easiest way to get into conflict with others (I Peter 3:8-9). 6 Those who spread tales and gossip about others in order to advance their own ideas, or to make themselves look better are actually bringing themselves down in the eyes of others, and especially in the eyes of God (Proverbs 20:19 >.

7. Our response to every situation we face must be governed by the teachings and example of Jesus if we are to gain the most from life (I Peter 2:2125).

Who can find a virtuous woman? She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou exceliest them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. The Newspaper BIBLE
WHO IS THIS WHO CASTS OUT DEMONS? On< v as |esus was teaching in the synagogue, a man possessed by a demon began shouting at Him. "Go away! We want nothing to do with You, Jesus from Nazareth. You have come to destroy us. 1 know who You are—the Holy Son of God." Jesus cut him short. "Be silent!" He told the demon. "Come out!" The demon threw the man to the floor as the crowd watched, and then left him without hurting him further. Amazed, the people asked. "What is in this man's words that even demons obey Him?" The story of what He had done spread like wildfire throughout the whole region After leaving the synagogue that day. He went to Simon's home where He found Simon's mother-in-law very sick with a high fever. "Please heal her." everyone begged. Standing at her bedside He spoke to the fever, rebuking it, and immediately her temperature returned to normal and she got up and prepared a meal for them! As the sun went down that evening, all the villagers who had any sick people in their home, no matter what their diseases were, brought them to Jesus; and the touch of His hand . healed every one! Some were possessed by demons; and the demons came out at His command, shouting. "You are the Son of God. But because they knew he was the Christ. He stopped them and told them to be silent. Early the next morning He went out into the desert. The crowds searched evei y where for Him and when they finally found Him they begged Him not to leave them, but to stay at Capernaum But He replied. ”1 must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other places too. for that is why I was sent." Luke 4:33-43

Sunday School superintendent enjoys filling in for teachers
Tom Stiver is the Sunday School superintendent at the Syracuse Church of God. He has held the position for two years and is in charge of the adult Sunday School classes. Duties handled by Tom include helping to develop programs and classrooms for the adult Sunday School classes, training teachers, getting materials and developing new classes. One phase of the position which Tom says he enjoys very much is filling in for teachers who are absent. He said, “I love to teach.” Four times a year teachers meet on a Sunday afternoon for a teacher training seminar, which Tom coordinates. Tom says that in June the church will be starting a leadership training class on Wednesday evening each week. The class will be open to interested persons and is designed to make people aware of problems associated with the operation of the church and ideas on how to be a leader in the church. The class will also focus on Sunday School teaching and guidelines for church and Sunday School growth. Being a Sunday School superintendent also puts Tom on the church board, giving him an administrative position in the church. He is the chairman of the Christian Education Committee. As chairman of that committee Tom helps to organize Vacation Bible School, summer youth camp at Bear Lake and Sunday School picnics. The committee developed a junior church program, where children through grade five attend their own worship service. The Sunday School is divided into two departments, junior and adult. Betty Kern is in charge of children s Sunday School programs. The position, which is an elected one. is time consuming, Tom says. He feels one problem he has is that many of the appointments he must set up in association with* his work are in the evening and make him unavailable to help with the church programs in the evenings. One reason he accepted the job is that he felt he would be good at it and felt he was qualified for the position. He really enjoys it. he says.
