Garden Club Convention at Muncie April 19-21
The 51st Annual Convention of the Garden Club of Indiana, Inc., will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19-21. in the Roberts Hotel in Muncie. The theme of the convention “Olden, Golden and Yet Unfoldin” will coincide with the theme on “A Golden Opportunity to Grow,” of Mrs, Donald St. Peters, state president from Indianapolis Mrs R. C. Tytler, state recording secretary and president of the SyracuseWawasee Garden Club, will be attending the convention lhe formal opening of the convention, Tuesday, April 20. REAL menu Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The Scout cabin at Crosson Park. Syracuse; the Pierceton Community Building, and the Retired Tigers center. 320 W Main. At the business session annual reports will be made, new state officers will be elected and four new district directors will be installed including Mrs. George Foster. Elkhart, as North Central Director. At the welcome luncheon. National Council State Life Members and Honeywell trophy winners will be honored. Mrs St. Peters will be giving her report at this luncheon also Following the business session, members of the Indiana Association of Accredited Flower Judges will participate in "A Golden Opportunity to Show," consisting of actual flower showexhibits and oral critiques by panels of judges The program is in preparation to encourage participation in the second state flower show when "Visions of Beauty.” will be presented on September 2, in the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Bowen Center offers course on parenting
The Bowen Center for Human Services in Warsaw is offering a four-week session course entitled -.’Understanding More About Your Child and About Yourself as a Parent." designed to introduce participants to some basic techniques to aid them in becoming more effective parents

April 12. at the home of Mrs’. Eloyce VanLue. Mrs Robert Laudeman had charge of the lesson and gave a review of a Liberace concert she attended recently at the Civic Auditorium. Lakeland. Fla She told the Liberace story and about his million dollar stage wardrobe She also told about the beautiful piano selections he played during the show, about his orchestra and the other entertainers on his show The Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts has contributed over $50,000 to talented young organists and pianists. The Liberace Museum at Las Vegas, Nev., houses his antique cars, many valuable pianos, and costly wardrobe costumes that he has retired There were 19 members and two guests present. The club president, Paula Markley, conducted the business meeting and introduced Rosalee Pletcher, who told about the need for donations and contributions for the proposed new Lakeland Day Care Center. Easter topic for Wednesday Afternoon Club b The Wednesday Afternoon Club of Syracuse met in the Saint Andrew's Church parlor April 7. Mrs. Ernest Bushong introduced the guest speaker. Dr. David Robinson, whose subject was "Easter”. Dr. Robinson related many factors in their heritage of the Easter celebration that developed many years before the crucifixion of Christ, but have a very close correlation with the event. Easter has always been a celebration of happiness, the coming of the springy season, rebirth and new life. Mrs. John Pettit, president, conducted the business meeting. Mrs. K. R. McDougal was welcomed back into active membership Mrs Bushong and Mrs. Nelson Miles, hostesses for the meeting, served refreshments during a social hour.
