The dinner meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Kimmel Hall, Oakwood Park, Syracuse Williams, who was formerly a teacher then president-owner of the college, tells his story A strange thing happened as he heard the explosions and saw the flames flowing in around him Verses of the Bible, some which he didn’t even know he knew, filled his mind. In the midst of the chaos, even though he didn't know everything that was happening, he had a clear head. Williams' mother was crying. He never had seen her cry before, but on this morning in their California home, she wept so bitterly she could not finish praying with her son, who was getting ready to leave on an overseas trip. Within hours, Williams would be standing between huge walls of fire, watching waves of molten steel engulf the dozens of helpless people whose bodies already were aflame. Williams’ mother didn’t know what was going to happen to her son, a semi-retired businessman But something brought the tears as they had prayed together. That night, March 27, 1977, the whole world knew of the airplane crash that would put Tenerife Airport, a small airport in the Canary Islands, on the map as the scene of the worst airplane disaster in history.
