Garage, bake sale at Milford this week
Gather up all your old things, which may tie of use to others, arid take them to the Milford Community Building Garage Sale on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. April 8. 9 and 10 or if you've been told you're a fantastic cook, whip something up for the bake sale on Friday and Saturday. April 9-10 Both events will be held m the community building
'All bills paid' on Milford Community Building: Keiper
Karl Keiper, m an update on the Milford Community Building, told his fellow Lions club members Monday night that "all bills have been paid." He then went on to outline several programs underway to raise an additional $12,000 to complete the community project He said a community garage sale will be* held at the uptown building on Thursday. Friday and Saturdav of this week and a
March was colder than normal The month of .March was colder than normal according to weather observer Lores Steury The normal for the month was 36 7 degrees while this year the temperature averaged 34.7 degrees The mercury hit 64 degrees on March 16 and fell to 3 degrees on .March 8. Precipitation totals for the month were up at 3.55 inches from the normal of 2.67 inches. The total accumulation January Ito Apri 11 was 801 inches, up from the 6.06 normal total. Snowfall for March was 7.41 inches which is also up from normal total of 4 66 inches The snowfall for this winter season has so far totaled 69.8 inches. The normal winter snowfall as of the end of March is 29.4 inches. March had eight clear days. 12 partly cloudy days and 11 cloudy days.

protect lakes
Property owners interested in preserving land values, recreational opportunity and water quality of Kosciusko County's 99 natural lakes are being invited to have representation for their lake on a new county lakes council The group, called Kosciusko County Lakes Preservation and Development Council, was recently organized by leaders for several lakes Purposes include mutual assistance in conservation of lakes and wetlands, research and scientific lake management, and conservation education. Dr. Jim Bohlin. elected chairman at the recent organizational meeting, reports that members so far include Wawasee. Tippecanoe, the Barbee Chain. Dewart. Webster. Chapman, Pike and Ridinger Lakes “The idea in forming the council." Bohlin said, “is that we can better protect the interests of our lakes and help guide development and conservation
Some kind of story to tell a child! Mrs Steve (Belinda* Russell. 25. r 2 box 504 Syracuse, will have some kind of story to tell her first child, a daughter, when she is old enough to understand. The Syracuse Emergency Medical Service was called to the Russell home at 12:55 a m. on Tuesday, April 6. when Belinda went into labor and needed to get to the hospital. It took the EMS an hour to reach the patient's home on Lake Papakeechie because of the snow Both the ambulance and a snow plow, which they called for assistance, became stuck prior to reaching the Russell home. Emergency Medical Technician Howard Birkel walked to the home to aid Mrs. Russell until the ambulance arrived However, luck was with them and the expectant mother was at the hospital before her child arrived

He referred to a recent petition by an individual to develop wetlands on Tippecanoe Lake Suppor* for the lake property owner group was of sered by other members of the council, and the proposal was eventually defeated. “The idea behind the council,” Bohlin added, "is an idea whose time has come — it’s something we must do to protect our lakes from deterioration and to preserve them for generations to come.” Persons or lake associations wishing more information can contact Bohlin at 267-5931 days or 453-3273 evenings and week ends.

community Good Friday services at 12 noon with four pastors of the community speaking. Syracuse Community Syracuse Church of God will be the host church of the Syracuse community Good Friday services at 1 p.m. Rev. Harlan Steffen, pastor of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, will give the message. There will be special music. On Easter morning Wawasee Lakeside Chapel will host a community sunrise service at 6:30 a m. Special music will be provided by the combined choirs of Saint Andrew’s and Calvary United Methodist Church choirs. Rev. John McFarland, pastor of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren will deliver the message. • / t ' v \j7a At Milford Members of the Milford United Methodist Church will be joining the congregation at the Island Chapel United Methodist Church on Maundy Thursday. April 8. for supper and communion devices. Easter sunrise services will start at 7 a.m. with a drama presentation, “He Lived, He Lives and I Live.” The drama is under the direction of Vi Miller. Those participating are Doug and Jodi Brown.

The Christian Church will be presenting a living portrayal Leonardo daVinci’s famous painting.’ The Last Supper." This will be presented at 7:30 p.m on Maundy Thursday by the men of the church and the church minister. Carl Shearer. This will be followed by a candlelight communion service. On Easter Sunday at 6:30 a.m. there will be a sunrise service and breakfast. Following this will be the 10:30 am. morning worship ser-° vice. The adult choir will provide special music and the sermon will be titled "The Resurrection." Bethel Church of the Brethren will be having a Love Feast on Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m.> An Easter sunrise service, to include the First Brethren Church, will be held at the church at 7:30 a.m. with the Men’s Fellowship serving breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The church will hold regular worship services oh Easter, morning with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship at 10:30 a.m. The Women’s Trio will sing during the service.
