| Louisa’s LETTER

Dear Louisa. 1 Have a very serious problem. I'm hoping you can me. 1 have to slip and go with a boy. whom 1 love very much. My father doesn't want me to go with this boy. Mom likes the boy. and knows we’re seeing each other. Dad says he and his family have a bad name, and won’t work. I’ll admit be comes from a family who has some people related to them with a bad name. But his family treats me nice, every time I go about them, and 1 like them. He works on about the hardest job around here, and his family works too and are honest. He’s not like Dad thinks he is. He treats me nice when I’m with him. 1 love him a great deal. We’re planning on getting married in June if we can convince my father we love each other. Dad just doesn’t seem to look at things like we do. What do you think about this? HJ.-Tenn.

Answer: You do not tell me how old you are and that would have a great deal to do with my advice. A boy who is hard working and morally good should not be put in the same category with relatives who have a bad name but a man usually knows more about other men than women do and it is just possible that your father has some justification for his attitude towards this young man.. 1 certainly do not approve of a girl slipping off to meet a friend and if 1 were in your place I should try to have my mother talk with my father and arrange for this boy to visit you in your own home. If there is anything very bad about this boy your father should tell you what it is. And if there is nothing wrong he should keep an open mind about him and try to learn something about him. moderate-cost; and $33.40 for liberal 20-54 years: $16,80 for thrifty; $21.80 for lowcost; $27 40 for moderate-cost; and $32.90 for liberal 55 and over: sls for thrifty; $19.30 for tow-cost; $23 90 for moderate-cost; and $28.70 for liberal Estimate Costs To estimate your family food costs try these steps. For members eating all meals at home or carried from home, use the amounts shown For members eating some meals out. deduct five per cent from the amount shown for each meal not eaten at home. Thus, for a person eating lunch out five days a week, subtract 25 per cent, or one-fourth the cost shown. For guests, add five per cent of the amount shown for the proper age group for each meal. Costs in the second part of the chart are for individuals in fourperson families If your family has more or less than four, total the “individual" figures and make these adjustments, because larger families tend to buy and use food more economically than small ones For a one-person family, add 20 percent For a two-person family, add 10 per cent For a three-person family, add five per cent For a family of five or six persons, subtract five per cent For a family of seven or more, subtract 10 per cent Fashion today starts with linen, cotton and silk. Clothes in these fabrics are seen in the better shops. Summer city clothe* feature skirts and blazers in a rayonlinen blend.
