Set dotes for bowling banquet
The Land O' Lakes Junior Bowling Association will have its annual awards banquet for the four leagues on March 13 and 15 at Wawasee Bowl, south of Syracuse. Following is the schedule of presentation of awards and banquet for the four
leagues: Junior High — Saturday, March 13,9:30 am Bantam and Pee Wee — Saturday. March 13.10:30a.m. High School — Monday. March 15.5 p.m.
Caravan to form on Saturday A caravan will form North Webster. Wawasee High School and Milford Junior High School or Saturday to escort the Wawasee players to the regional tournament. A fan bus and cars that gather at the North Webster Junior High School will leave that school at 9:15 am for Wawasee High School At Wawasee additional fans, the team bus and individuals in cars will form a caravan to be escorted by county police officials to North Side Gym in Elkhart The caravan will pick up additional fans and cars at the Milford Junior High School and continue to Elkhart, arriving there at approximately 10 45 am Doors will open at the gym at 10 a m with the first game starting at 11 am. and the WawaseeElkhart Memorial game at 12:30 p.m Warrior fans are being reminded not to forget to wear green and gold to show their support at the regional.

Warriors win sectional title
By SH ARON STICKMAN Wawasee's boys' basketball team was pioudly claimed the title of 1982 sectional basketball champions They defeated Warsaw 49-45 in the final game of the sectional Saturday at Triton and will meet Elkhart Memorial at Elkhart on Saturday. In their first game on Friday. Wawasee defeated Rochester by a score of 59-54. The Zebras had advanced to Friday's game by defeating Tippecanoe Valley 74590 n Wednesday. The first game Friday matched the Tigers of Warsaw against the home team. Triton Warsaw defeated the Trojans 35-30. although the Tigers failed to score a point in the third period and early in the fourth period Triton tied the score Warsaw however, pulled the game out with some crucial shots, to advance to the final game. TWO POINTS FOR JEFF — Wawasee Senior Jeff Long adds another two points to the Wawasee score as he shoots from beyond the foul line.
Wawasee 59Rochester 54 Wawasee got off to a good start in the Rochester game, led by Kent Stichter, who scored two unanswered field goals. Hoover scored to give the Zebras two. Long hit a field goal and Kent scored again, making it eight to two. A field goal by Geiger widened the Warrior lead to eight. Geiger scored three more points in the first period and Kirk Stichter scored two. Hoover and King each got a field goal. At the end of the first period Wawasee led the Zebras 15-10. Sawyer hit two free throw’s. Wawasee lost the ball and Hoover scored, making the Warrior lead only one. Long scored.' but Hoover quickly cut the lead again and Wawasee missed King had a chance to put Rochester ahead, but missed and fouled Geiger, who scored two. Davis and Auer scored and Long consistently put points on the board. Each team scored 16 points in the second period and at the half Wawasee was leading 3126 The third quarter was a good one for the Zebras, as they score 12 points and Wawasee scored only eight, making the score at the end of that period 39-34. with the Warriors leading by five. In the fourth quarter Rochester started out writh a field goal by Triplett, cutting the lead to three. Geiger scored, but that was quickly answered by a field goal from King Long put the Warriors back ahead by five but King scored again, making it 4340 The Warriors then began to pull out ahead until, with less than a minute left. Rochester scored two on free throws by Hoover and cut the lead again to four.

Long scored, but King hit another good long shot. The Warriors were hitting better than in their regular season game against the Zebras and went on to win by five points. 59-54. Wawasee 49Warsaw 45 On Saturday fans from both Wawasee and Warsaw were ready to cheer on their teams, and the game gave each side much to cheer about. The first four points of the championship game were scored by Kent Stichter on field goals. Warsaw then got on the board when John Snyder was fouled by Kent and hit two. The Warriors then scored four unanswered points, first a basket by Brian Geiger and then another by Kent Stichter. to give Wawasee an 8-2 lead. It looked as if Wawasee was going to have a chance to widen it even further as Snyder missed, but he got his own rebound and scored. Long then scored two unanswered baskets, making it 124. before Mike Miller put the Tigers back on the board. At the end of the first period of play Wawasee was leading 12-6. By the end of the second quarter the Tiger had managed to cut the Warrior lead to two points, by scoring 14 points in that period while Wawasee scored only 10. All of Wawasee’s points in the second period were scored by Long and Geiger. Geiger scored six and Long four. At halftime Wawasee led 22-20 and at the end of the third period the Warriors were still leading by only two. 32-30. Each team scored 10 points in the third period Early in the final period Warsaw tied the score on a field
goal by Snyder. Geiger was fouled and hit one free throw, putting the Warriors in the lead by one. but another Snyder field goal put the Tigers in the lead for the first time in the game. Geiger hit a field goal, making it 35-34 in favor of the Warriors but Snyder hit again and put Warsaw back in the lead by one Geiger missed his next shot, but Davis rebounded and scored for the Warriors. Snyder missed. Long rebounded and Lehman fouled Geiger Brian hit two free throws and W’awasee was leading by three. Davis fouled Snyder, he hit two and the lead was again only one for Wawasee. Wawasee lost the ball out of bounds, but Kent Stichter stole the ball for the Warriors. Kent was fouled by Bailey and hit one free throw. Warsaw missed and Snyder fouled Davis who hit two free throws to make it 42-38. Sndyer hit one free throw when he was fouled by Geiger. Warsawrebounded and Lehman was fouled and hit one to make it 4240. Kirk Sichter missed a free throw, but his brother. Kent rebounded and scored, giving the Warriors a four-point lead. Snyder was fouled by Kirk Stichter and hit only one. Davis rebounded and Kirk hit two tree throws when he was fouled by Miller. Miller then answered with a Warsaw field goal with 43 seconds left, making the score 4643. Wawasee. Long was fouled and hit one. Kirk Stichter fouled Snyder, who hit two and with 29 seconds left Wawasee led by only two Kent Stichter was fouled by Lehman and hit tw-o free throws with 14 seconds left, to make the final points of the game and
