Schoofauditorium Swfnming Coach Tim Caldwell introduced his team and presented them with their
awards The team ended their season with a 14-3 record, the best in Wawasee High School history. They have only two seniors on the team and look forward to an outstanding season next year The team presented a gift to Coach Caldwell, which he found floating in the swimming pool He was presented with a Jobe water ski in appreciation of his leadership Varsity wrestling Coach Richard Welborn introduced his team, which has four graduating seniors, among them Gary Gerencser. who has set many high school records throughout his wrestling career at Wawasee Gerencser tied with Pat Morganthaler for the most pins, with 14 over the season and Gary had 45 take downs this season, to win the most takedown award The captains star went to John Stuckman. another senior whom the coach congratulated for his leadership. Wawasee wiU have some very exciting wrestlers returning to the mat next season Some of the members will soon begin par ticipation in the amateur athletic wrestling program, traveling to Indianapolis on Saturday. Bosse ranked number one Evansville Bosse, the city's first unbeated high school team since 1955 was voted number one Tuesday, March 2. Plymouth fell to South Bend LaSalle Friday and lost the state's top spot.

Beaver's Realty 34 67 Gymnasts victorious at North Wood Wawasee traveled to NorthWood February 27 to compete in a gymnastics meet and both the optional and intermediate teams defeated the North Wood girls. The optional team won by a score of 84.1. to 55.5 by the Panther girls. Angie Meek won first for the Warriors in the floor exercises. Jill Haab of Wawasee's optional team placed second in beam and third on floor and vaulting. Carol Meier placed second on optional vaulting and second on bars. Stacy Kline placed second on floor and Angie Rich placed third on bars. The intermediate team won 83 25 to 70.55 over North Wood. with Michelle Berger placing first on beam and Beth Walker placing first in floor and vault. Lori Berger placed second on optional bars. Liz Waltz placed third on beam and Micheile Berger paced third on floor. Debbie Haab placed third on bars Third place in optional vaulting went to Christi Vance of Wawasee. Milford defeats North Webster and West Noble teams The Milford team defeated North Webster on Thursday evening. Feb. 25. 36-15. Winning for Milford were Albert Stricklin. Ben Beer, Carl Rouch. Elias Hernandez. Steve Galegor, Harvey Melendez and Gilbert Rico. Against W'est Noble. Milford lost 28-39, on Tuesday evening. Feb. 23. Winning for the Trojans were Joe Hernandez. Joe Melendez. Steve Galegor. Harvey Melendez and Elias Hernandez. Girls treated at buffet The Wawasee High School girls’ basketball team were treated to a buffet dinner Tuesday evening, March 2, in a Syracuse restaurant. The State Bank of Syracuse paid for the meal which was to congratulate the girls on a fine season and for bringing home the Warsaw Sectional championship. Coach Dale Brannock stated this is the second year the bank has paid for the team's supper.

Feaster 167 Benefit game scheduled for Monday night A benefit basketball game will be played Monday night between the Milford eighth grade girl’s basketball team and the officers and members of the Milford Booster s Club, known locally f as the “Village Idiots.” Funds raised by the game, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Milford Junior High gym, will benefit the summer athletic program. LWBA board meets March 1, plans annual banquet Members of the Lakeland Women’s Bowling Association met Monday, March 1, at Wawasee Bowl, south of Syracuse. There were nine ladies in attendance. President Rosemary Gerrity was in charge of the business meeting. Kathryn Knisley, secretary-treasurer, announced that the annual association spring banquet will be held Monday, March 22, at the Red Door Inn. Syracuse. The meal will be served at 7 p.m. with the business meeting following at 8 o'clock The secret a ry-treasurer urged each league representative to notify their members of the meeting at which time an election will be held, tournament trophies will be awarded and a tentative budget will be voted on. Officers to be elected are the first vice president, secretary-treasurer and sergeant-at-arms. SECTIONAL WINNERS North Wood, Elkhart Memorial and Fairfield basketball teams won first round sectional games Tuesday evening.
