Bremen 74 — Wawasee 64 Warrior bench plays well in loss to Bremen Lions

Wawasee lost their final regular season game 74-64 at Bremen Friday and played onlytwo really good quarters in the contest Three Warriors. Jay Auer. Kevin Smith and Jon Vitaniemi. came off the bench and scored in double figures and were commended by Coach John Wysong for their fine efforts The first period ended 12-10. with Bremen leading, however, the only lead for the Warriors was at the beginning of the contest, when the first point was scored by senior Kirk Stichter Leading Warrior rebounder was sophomore Jon ¥itaniemi. who pulled down 10 missed shots heading scorers for Wawasee were Kent Stichter. Vitamemi and Kevin Smith, all with 12 points In the final penod Wawasee rallied and outscored the Lions 27 to 16. but after trailing at the end of the third penod by a score of 58-37 the comeback was not enough to pull out the victory Bremen played a very aggressive game defensively and the good scoring of Brad Koller and Todd Wagoner gave the Lions the advantage Wawasee scored only 10 points in the first period. 15 in the second and 12 in the third, before coming on to hit for 27 in the final stanza The game was a season low sos Jeff Long, who scored only four points Todd Davis and Ron Spunar lyt for only four each and Brian Geiger scored only two Many of the Warrior starters were replaced from the bench during the second half Wawasee played a man to man defense, but was unable to stop the scoring of Kolter and Gardner Kolter was nine of 14 from the field and two of two at the line Gardner scored on three of Sectional begins tonight The 72nd Sectional Basketball Tournament will begin at Triton High School tonight W ednesday.
