Livestock feed processes at VyLactos Laboratories
VyLactos Laboratories, a division of Pacific Molasses Company, is an active livestock feed processing plant in Syracuse. The mother company. Knappen Molasses Company, is located in Chicago. VyLactos has a plant at Bremen and a warehouse at Milford. The Bremen plant is used for manufacture of liquid livestock feed and testing of finished products from Syracuse and Bremen. Dried molasses and mineral feed products are manufactured at Syracuse for delivery to dealers ail over the United States and Canada The recently remodeled office facilities, where all the records are kept, payroll figured and orders processed, are located in Syracuse VyLactos acquired the warehouse in Milford about a year ago. are stored there to be used as carrier in the dried feed. Much of the finished, bagged feed is delivered to dealers by VyLactos truck drivers, dispatched from the Syracuse office. Business had been slow'but has picked up considerably in the last two weeks and the Syracuse plant now has only two production workers laid off. There are nine men working on the production line at Syracuse. There are no big expansion plans upcoming for VyLactos. The business is effected somewhat by the economy and the company's personnel are in hopes that things are on the upswing. Most of the production personnel and truck drivers are local people. Persons working in the office at the local manufacturing firm are also residents of surrounding communities.
