which provides access to 14 different warehouses stocked with $45 million worth of inventory. Jenkins is constantly reviewing and updating his inventory to make sure he’s stocked with the items his customers need. He said this is a constant need, because the auto industry has more individual models than in the past and an auto store needs to keep a wider variety of parts in stock. Jenkins believes “being as helpful as we can” is one of the most important aspects of his business. "Anybody can sell auto parts as any price and any quality, but being helpful takes more." he pointed out. A Bright Future The owner said sales in 1981 have been good, but. like most businesses, overhead costs have also risen. “But I’m looking forward to a bright future,” remarked Jenkins. “One thing about this business is that people are fixing up their old cars instead of buying new ones. ” His advice to the do-it-yourselfer is “make sure they don’t tackle something that’s too complicated. Purchase an automotive instructional manual and ask questions from the person they’re buying their parts from.” When asked his future plans for the business. Jenkins replied, “We’ve expanded so fast in the last two and onehalf years that I’d like to consolidate our services and offer better inventory in each store.” Jenkins Automotive in Milford is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday.

What she likes most about her job is meeting people and being able to kfcep up with the new trends in the industry Mrs. Hubartt states that Traditional and Early American styles in furniture are the most popular in this area, because people here tend to be more conservative and traditional than in other parts of the country. Man-made materials and cotton fabrics are also continuing to be popular. The owners point out that when buying home furnishings the reputation of the dealer is very important and price is not necessarily an indicator of good quality.
