• J* ■ flflk ■U THERE ARE stiJl fire hydrants in need of adoption in Milford. This cute little fella is begging to be shoveled the rest of the way out so firemen can gain quick access to hydrants if necessary. With the warmer temperatures some of the ice and snow has begun to melt, making shoveling much easier. Won’t you check around town and do your part in protecting your own home and neighborhood? -oHELP! THIS community is in need of a crossing guard at the junior high' school. IN THE Unsung Heroes column last week featuring Max Evans, president of the Milford EMS. there was sone misunderstanding in the section about volunteers suffering from the “Hero” syndrome or the “Red Light” syndrome. Max Evans clarified that he did not refer to any EMTs on the volunteer program but rather these two characteristics are used in screening "out” potential volunteers who would suffer one of these syndromes. In fact, the reason the volunteer program in Our Town is so successful is due to the fact there aren’t any EMTs trying to be heroes or speeding around for the fun of it. These people are dedicated towards one goal: keeping people healthy. —O'PLANS ARE underway for another bazaar in Our Town. This one will be sponsored by MAD and will be to raise money to help pay for the community building. Jean Treesh and Marcie Haab will serve as co-chairmen of the event. No date has been set yet but persons who enjoy working with crafts and wanting to help are urged to get their thoughts together and to plan on helping with the bazaar.

Dr. Ari Van Tienhoven of the university's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, said the method could be used immediately at chicken farms in the United States to bring bigger eggs to the breakfast tables. However, the trick involves stretching the chicken’s day to 28 hours and manipulating lights in a new way to stimulate the hen into maximum egg production The chickens are allowed two hours of light at the beginning of the extended day, followed by six hours of darkness, two hours of light again and 18 hours of darkness The result is bigger eggs with stronger shells than those produced under the 24-hour system Dr Van Tienhoven and his colleagues claim the shells are stronger because the hen is given more time to develop the egg However they are mystified as to why the egg size increases. Fly-away hair Fine hair will hold a lasting set better if you use only very gentle shampoos that do not produce any static electricity.
