JENNIFER DENNIS, eight years old and Bryan Kaufman, seven years old. are shown pfaying on one of the many “mountains’ around Milford The mountains are the result of the heavy snows of the past several weeks Motorists should drive with caution and watch for children sliding down. Parents should alert their children to the dangers of climbing and sliding on snow piles that are in the street. Notice, the youngsters above are not facing the street which is to the left of. rot m front of. the photo -oXNOTHER RESULT of the winter weather is the fact many of Our Town's fire plugs have been buried under the snow. Why not adopt a plug, dig it out and keep it dug out. ft may be your house that Is saved because the firemen don't have to first hunt for and then dig out a plug if a fire should breakout. -oDID YOU know chocolate is not just a symbol of love It’s also a substitute’ Viith Valentine's Day coming up it is apropos to note that throughout the ages chocolate has been special in the eyes of levers. Heoalso served it to the maidens brought to him as offerings When Spain \ .Maria Theresa became engaged to. Louis Xl\ of France, she sent him an expensive. ornate chest filled with chocolate — maybe the first chocolate Valentine. Madame Du Barry, the famous French courtesan, is said to have offered chocolate to suiters, and 'Casanova reportedly used it th/ way a modern-day casanova champagne. Not to worry, though, if you find yourself unlucky in love: chocolate can also help to mend a broken heart ’ While doing a study on depression, researchers Dr. Michael Liebowiu of Colombia University and Dr. Klein •of the New Yog* state Psychiatric Institute noticed a curious side effect — many of their lovesick patients craved chocolate. There's a scientific reason for this, it turns out The brain of a happy. loving person produces a chemical with the tongue-twisting aame of phenylethylamine — which is often found in chocolate. Falling out of love may produce symptoms of drug withdrawal, which resulted in a craving for chocolate. Eating the stuff is just an effort at self-medication. So look on the bright side If your would-be lover spurns you and your chocolate offering this February 14. you can do yourself a favor by eating it all yourself -o- ?
