Summary given on muskellunge stocking

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has released a summary of the number of tiger muskellunge stocked in northern Indiana lakes in 1981. Tiger muskellunge are a rapidgrowing hybrid cross between a northern pike and a muskie. The tiger muskie stockings will eventually give Hoosier anglers a chance to catch these prized trophy fish in Indiana lakes. The tiger muskie were stocked in lakes found to have suitable habitat for the growth of these fish. A large supply of forage fish and sizable areas of submersed vegetation are the prime factors for survival The fish are expected to reach the legal size of 30 inches by the summer erf 1984 The following is a list of northern Indiana lakes that have been stocked with muskie and the approximate size of the fish: Lake of the Woods in Marshall County receiving 4.000 fish, five inches long; Blue Lake in Whitley County receiving 1.504 fish, six to nine inches long; Loon Lake in Noble County receiving 1.200 fish
