Warriors fall to Panthers in final game
In the final game of the season, held at Wawasee on Wednesday, Wawasee was defeated by North Wood 21-7. The first quarter was the strong point for both defensive units, as neither team scored. North Wood received and moved the ball to the Wawasee 44-yard line, but a personal foul penalty cost them 15 yards and they punted from their 40-yard line. Wawasee moved the ball into Panther territory but Rick Yoder of North Wood stripped it from the hands of Dahlstrom and they took over on the 50-yard line. Stops by DeWitt and Thom forced the Panthers to punt from the Wawasee 40 and at the end of the first quarter Wawasee had fourth down at their own 23. ' Lengacher moved the ball to

Milford volleyball teams win over Webster, Warsaw
Milford Junior High volleyball teams scored recent victories over North Webster and Warsaw. The B-team upped its record to 3-2 by beating North Webster in two straight games, 16-14 and 158, Wednesday, Oct. 21. Carla Henson led in serves with 10. followed by Linda Lower and Traci Ostendorf Henson led in hits along with Maggie Edwards. The A-team went three games to come out on top with scores of 15-7,2-15 and 15-13. Cris Troup led in serves with 12, followed by Jacqui Schultz and Amy Bucher. Ron Baumgartner bests his time in marathon Mr. and Mrs. Ron Baumgartner and daughters, Criss and Jennifer, traveled to Glen Burnie, Maryland, last Thursday to spend several days with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haab and sons. Dan. Tim and Andy. Haab is the son of Mrs. Pearl Haab of r 2 Milford, and the late George Haab. He graduated from Milford High School in 1961 and now works for the National Security Agency, a branch of the Defense Department On Friday the Baumgartners spent the day sightseeing in Washington, D.C. Sunday Ron took part in the sixth annual Marine Corps Marathon. Covering the 26 2 mile race distance in three hours and nine minutes. Baumgartner improved his‘previous best time for that event by over 14 minutes. The race, billed as the second largest in the country, attracted over 9,700 runners. Its scenic course began at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington, ran past the Pentagon, from Georgetown to Capitol Hill, then past the Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson Monuments and back to the finish at the Marine Memorial. On Sunday evening, the Haabs and Baumgartners entertained Mr. and Mrs. Tom Parrett of Springfield, Virginia. Parrett also graduated from Milford High School in 1961 and now is a lawyer with the Social Security Administration. Parrett’s parents. Carey and Jean Parrett, lived in Milford until 1961. Carey practiced veterinary medicine and later took a position with the Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company in Indianapolis. The Baumgartners returned to Milford on Monday.

Wawasee could not connect on their pass plays and Dahlstrom was stopped short of the first down. Brian's punt was taken by Weaver and he pushed through the Warrior defense to the Wawasee 48. Bemiller gained seven yards and on the next play scored again. The extra point kick was good and North Wood led 14-0. On the kick Wawasee was in trouble again as there was a fumble on the play and North Wood recovered on the Wawasee 36. Hunziker and Cusick were ready on defense and held the Panthers at the Wawasee 21.

For the A-team, Bucher, Schultz and Troup were chosen players of the week Warsaw Game Milford’s A and B teams were double winners over Warsaw Monday, Oct. 26 The B-team won with scores of 16-14, 8-15 and 1512. Ronda Amsden and Dawn Harwood led in serves Maggie Edward and Karen Benning led in hits. The A-team won in two straight games with 15-6 and 15-8. Pena was able to connect two good passes to Marshall Boyer, moving the ball to the North Wood 10-yard line and another pass to Freiheit put Wawasee on the board. Kris Cox's kick was good and the Warriors trailed by only seven. The story at the beginning of the fourth quarter was mistakes. Dahlstrom recovered a North Wood fumble on the Panther 21yard line, but on the next play he fumbled again, however, saved the ball for the Warriors Bemiller intercepted a pass on the next play and North Wood took over their own 29.
