10 YEARS AGO. SEPT. 20.1071 Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plank of Syracuse were hosts at a dinner Sunday at a local restaurant honoring the 50th wedding anniversary of the former’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Plank of Syracuse. The senior Planks were united in marriage on September 27. 1921 at Saint Joseph. Mich They have two children, Robert Plank and Mrs Eli (Barbaras Kauffman, both of Syracuse and have seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Others m attendance Sunday were Mr and Mrs. Richard Coy and son, Ricky, and Jan and Larry Plank Last week saw an improvement to the grounds at the Calvary United Methodist church, located on road 13 south of Syracuse, in that the driveways and parking areas around the church were all blacktopped The senior class of Wawasee high school will present a senior play for the first time in the history of the school The (day is Thornton Wilder’s "Our Town." Creek township will ail cooperate in the cost. Henry Poinsaette, Fort Wayne, landed an eight pound wall-eye pike while fishing in Johnson Bay at Lake Wawasee. It is believed to be one of the largest ever taken from the lake. TENTH ANNIVERSARY REUNION — Members of the Sounds of Hope alumni will be together again in their 10th anniversary reunion this week end. Oct. 10 and 11. Atwood Troop hosts Scouts at Syracuse
The Atwood Troop was the host for the Boy Scout Fall Camporee at the Syracuse Scout Woods on CR 500 October 2-4 The area troops involved were Syracuse Troop 728, three troops from Warsaw, Atwood. Milford. Pierceton and North Webster for a total of 10 troops Among the activities was a canoe tnp through the Barbee Chain of Lakes There was a nature hunt patrol pioneering projects, cartipfire skits and awards, with the Syracuse Troop Jo Eccles uninjured in one-vehicle crash Jo E. Eccles. 33, r 2 North Webster, was uninjured in a onevehicle accident on CR 650. Schroer. chairman and chief executive officer of Northern Indiana Pubbc Service Company- recently announced that directors of the utility have dedared a quarterly dividend of 574 cents a share on the outstanding common stock of the company. Syracuse youths caught at old Sunoco
Steve L. Kaufman, 17. Syracuse, was arrested by Syracuse Police and charged with possession of marijuana and Tools stolen John S. Hartzler, 14037 CR 50 Syracuse, recently reported to Elkhart County Police a set of tool and diemaker’s gauges and nozzles for actylene torches were taken along with a box of tools from the shed on his property. The gauges were marked with the numbers 81-100 and are worth S3OO. Many of the tools were Craftsman brand according to information given to County Sheriff's Ptl.. Warren Allender.

trespassing after police apprehended the youth at the old Sunoco bulk plant in the 700 block of South Seventh St., Syracuse. Kaufman was charged in county court and no bond has been set. Syracuse Police received a call at approximately 9:10 a.m., Tuesday evening, Sept. 29, when someone observed two youths climbing the fence and going inside the area. When police arrived they observed Kaufman and Troy Minnix, 18, Syracuse, in the plant area. Officers confiscated two bags of marijuana, and one pack of Zig Zag cigarette papers along with other items. Minnix was released pending further investigation.
