Sailing regatta on Lake Tippecanoe
Lake Tippecanoe was the scene of the annual Fourth of July Regatta sponsored by the Lake Tippecanoe Sailing Club Saturday. July 4. A brunch was held for members at the home of Steve and Martie Black preceedmg the race There were three races with 29 skippers entered in nine classes of sailboats In the Hobie 16-foot class, trophies were awarded to Jason and Ken Davidson. Pnee. r 5 Syracuse, are among 150 junior golfers meeting yesterday July 7) and today Uuly a> in New Palestine to compete in the State Finals of the 13th Annual Indiana Section — National Insurance Youth Goff Classic, sponsored by Indiana's Big T' insurance agents These qualifying golfers were the lowest scorers tn 31 local qualifying tournaments held throughout the state in June They are playing on the Hoosier Links Golf Course, southeast of Indianapolis, at the site of the 36hole competition, with an 18-hole medal play each day. At least five of the lowest scorers in the State Finals will represent Indiana at the 72-hole National Insurance Youth Golf Classic to be played August 7-11 at the Augusta County Chib and Forest Hills Golf Course m Augusta. Indiana's junior golfers will compete in a field of 150 state finalists from throughout the nation in 36-holes of competition Then the 60 lowest scorers will play the final 36-holes in the company of “big name PGA tour pros PGA pro golfers participating in this year's National IYGC are: Don Bies.

Carmel. was fourth in a Super Porpoise The next regular races are scheduled for Sunday. July 19. with junior races on Saturday. July 18.

Wawasee High School sophomore, was picked on the first team as designated hitter on the All-Northern Lakes Conference baseball team. Hare, a left handed batter, merited first-team status by obtaining a 472 average against NLC teams On the honorable mention list was senior Warner outfielder Jim Davies He was a first team pick last year Wawasee had an NLC record of 4-10.
