Martha Arnold, wife of school superintendent, dies
Martha S Arnold. 48. of r 1 Milford died suddenly Saturday. June 20. at 6:45 pm in the Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was the wife of Don H. Arnold, superintendent of MRS. 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Emily (Stertzoaski) Gregor. She lived in Milford for the past 18 years, moving from Wabash County. She married Don H. Arnold on July 27,1960. She had been formerly em- r ployed as a registered nurse at Goshen Hospital and gave free blood pressure checks monthly for the citizens of the Milford community. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse Survivors include her husband. Don. and one daughter, Mrs Arnold (Vickie) Schmucker of Portland. Org . two sons. Lake Wawasee, died at 7:05 a m on June 22 at South Bend Memorial Hospital. She was a patient there for four days following a one-month illness She was born in Ligonier on June 4. 1909 She married Jack Mernman on September 10.1970. in Burket He preceded her in death on October 11.1979 She was a resident of the Niles. Mich . community for 36 years, formerly living in Ugonier. June 21. in a hospital in Beaver Dam, Wise She had suffered a heart attack and had been a patient there for two weeks Mrs Rickel is the sister of Eldon Brower and Charles Brower, both of North Webster. She was bom in Pierceton on June 7,1916. to Victor F and Leia (Walgamuth) Brower A retired beauty operator, she had practiced in Goshen until her retirement and had lived in the Pierceton and Goshen areas most of her life. Mrs Rickel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Post No 258 at Pierceton, and was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Goshen Survivors besides her two brothers. SYRACUSE HONORS FALLEN HEROES — Syracuse veterans and residents honored all men and women from the police and fire departments who died in the line*of duty, at a Fallen Heroes Ceremony at the Syracuse American Legion Hall, on Sunday, June 21. Standing at the podium is the master of ceremonies. Legion District Commander Tim Darr of Syracuse. To the left of the speaker, holding the wreath to be laid in their honor, is Vice Commnder Wendell Summers of Lafayette. Chaplain Frank Littleton of Lafayette stands to the speaker's side. He read the benediction. Standing in a line at the far left are numerous police and fire officers. County police officer Roy Carlyle of Warsaw read the list of those fallen in the line of police duty. Also standing in the formation is Bob Mitchell of Lafayette who read the list of firefighters fallen in the line of duty. She was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital. Richard Mueller of Syracuse got his left hand caught in a machine at Dana Spicer Axle Division, Syracuse, for approximately 15 minutes, on June 18. He suffered from a laceration to his left joint third finger. The Syracuse EMS splinted the injury and he was transported to Dr. Myers office for X-rays.
Robert Shively, 62, r 1 box 122 Syracuse, developed heart problems at pier 770, on June 19. He was transported by the EMS to Goshen Hospital. Sarah Harmon. 63, of South Bend, became ill while at Number 16, Harborside Condominiums, Syracuse, on June 22. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. Wendall Patton, 44, P.O. Box 392 Wawasee Heights. Syracuse, became ill and refused treatment on June 22. Anna Byrket. one and one-half years. 119 East Washington St., Syracuse, became ill on June 22. She had a high fever and was transported to Goshen Hospital Georgia Buster. 76. r 4 Apt. 62 Greenhaus, Syracuse, became ill on June 24. She was treated by EMS aidmen. Grace Bostic, 72, Apt. 64 Greenhaus, Syracuse, became ill on June 24 She was transported to Goshen Hospital Milford EMS The following are calls made by the Milford Emergency Medical Service technicians during the past week: Friday, June 19 — A lady fell at Schwartz’s Foocffiner. She was transported to Goshen Hospital with an ankle injury Sunday. June 21 — An 81-year-old man was transported from the Lakeland Loving Care Center to Goshen Hospital. Monday, June 22 - There was an automobile accident involving three teenage boys. Each had head injury. They were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
