Emergency Medical Services unit. An early morning call was answered to a rural Milford home where a man was having chest pains and breathing difficulties. He was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room. The Milford Fire Department called |ater in the morning and reported a possible drowning at Waubee Lake. It was a false alarm. Later in the day a patient was transported from Kosciusko Community Hospital to Lakeland Loving Care Center. Syracuse EMS Arthur Davis, 65, Greenhaus Apt 80, Syracuse, became ill on June 5. He was transported to Goshen Hospital Tammy Pruitt. 22, P.O. Box 300 New Paris, arrived at the Syracuse Fire Station with an injury above her right eye on June 6 She was struck on the head at the overpass while riding in a boat. She was transported to Goshen Hospital.

Columbia City editor, publisher Hester C. Adams dead at 79
Hester Catherine Adams. 79. an editor and publisher in Indiana for more than 25 years, died Sunday. June 7, in Whitley County Hospital. She was publisher of the Columbia City Post and Commercial-Mail, two publications that have served the Whitley County area for over 125 years. She assumed ownership of the Post and Mail Publishing Co. Inc. following the sudden death of her husband. John Quincy Adams, in 1955. It was at this time that she also assumed the duties of publisher and editor. Mrs Adams was a native of Lake County where she was bom on January 30, 1902. to James Henry and Elizabeth (Spry) Little. She attended grade school at West Creek School near the Illinois state line and later went to Oakland School. A 1920 graduate of Lowell High School, she received a degree in home economics from Purdue University in 1924, where she was a member of Delta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Mu Sorority. She completed her training as a dietician at Cincinnati Hospital two years later. Following her training in'l926 she taught school at Churubusco and Columbia City, during which time she was in charge of the 4-H program for the summer months. She was married on June 26. 1938, to her husband, John Mrs. Adams, besides being a reporter, photographer, and publisher, was active in various Whitley County and Columbia City civic organizations She was a member of the Lowell and Whitley County Daughters of the .American Revolution. In 1960. she became the second woman to become a member of the executive committee of the Indiana Historical Society and she was a member of its board of trustees at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Indiana Museum Society and numerous historical society groups. She served with the Whitley County Red Cross and in 1942 joined Alpha Lota Chapter of Tri Kappa Mrs Adams was honored in 1969 as a Purdue Centurian. a title awarded t<? individuals who maintain and uphold the ideals of the university, and she was the first person to receive the Jaycees Sound Citizen award in 1972 In 1978 former Govenor Otis Bowen honored her as a
H' ’•] • - ‘ V’• PILOT HURT. PLANE RUNS OUT OF GAS — Former Goshen resident Robert Wilden. Jr.. 46. j 25942 CR 20 Elkhart, was listed in fair condition Monday. June 8, at Goshen Hospital following a crash in his homebuilt aircraft. The plane ran out of gas near Benton. His plane landed in Benton Township in the early evening, on Sunday. June 7. He was flying his small, pusher-type plane from a private airstrip owned by Adrian Zollinger, southeast of Benton. The Volkswagon-powered aircraft ran out of gas at a reported altitude of 400 feet. The vehicle crashed in a wheat field owned by David Hire, 70759 CR 39 Ligonier. Wilden suffered a fractured left wrist, possible neck and back injuries. \

health for three years. A native of Des Moines, she was bom May 31, 1934, and moved to Milford from Goshen in 1973. She was married June 29. 1955, to John Monroe Replogle, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1978. Mrs. Replogle had been employed with Johnson Controls and was a member of Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church in Goshen. Survivors three daughters. Enß Thompson of Blissfield, Mich., Mrs. Kenneth (Ruby) Hanshew of Decatur. 111., and Miss Kathy Replogle, at home; three sons. Donald and James, both of Goshen, and John of Milford; 14 grandchildren; her mother. Mrs. Lloyd (Mary) LaFary of Goshen; two sisters, Betty and Patsy LaFary, both of Goshen, and two brothers, Robert and Michael, also of Goshen. Services will be held Friday. June 12, at 1:30 p.m. in the YoderCulp Funeral Home with Rev Richard D. Dolby, pastor of Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today (Wednesday) from 79 and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. Leonard Gibson Leonard L. Gibson, 29, r 4 Oakwood Park, Syracuse, died of a brain tumor in his home on Sunday morning. June 7. His wife, Dianne, discovered the death and reported it to local authorities. Kosciusko County Coroner Gary Eastlund, Sheriff C. Alan Rovenstine and County Police Detective Sgt. Stanley Holderman, investigated at the scene. The coroner ruled the death was caused by a brain tumor known as astrocytoma Gibson was bedridden since January 1. He was a member of the Faith Assembly. .
