Summer fishing in full swing The 1981 summer fishing season is in full swing following the arrival of Memorial Day. according to Department of Natural Resources Tri-Lakes biologist Jed Pearson Through May. fishing was slow because of high and muddy water from all the heavy rains. Many of the traditionally consistent fishing spots were slow. Crappie fishing, which normally peaks around Memorial Day. is just beginning on Chapman and Spear Lakes in Kosciusko County. This means crappie fishing should be excellent through June this year. So far, fishing is slow at the TriCounty Fish and Wildlife Area, near North Webster, but it should pick up soon with warmer water temperatures.
