Youth League sign up is set at Syracuse
With summer quickly approaching. important times and dates are now set for the Syracuse Summer Youth League programs Sign-up for all leagues is scheduled for next Wednesday. Apnl 15, and Thursday. Apnl 16. from 6-6 pm and Saturday. April 18. from 9 a m-12 pm in the new gym entrance at the Syracuse school A small fee will be charged at this time Tryouts for minor, major leagues and girls softball will be Saturday. Clouse breaks three hours in Heart Watchers marathon .
Tony Clouse. Syracuse broke three hours in the Heart Watcher’s Marathon last Sunday in Toledo. Ohio The 26.3 mile race, with approximately 400 participants, began and ended at the University of Toledo.

Stereo stolen Mrs. James Kaufman, Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse, reported someone entered her home between 8 a m and 10:47 am. on April 2, and stole her daughter ’s stereo. The Capehart stereo, two speakers and one speaker wire, taken from an upstairs bedroom, were valued at $295.

The purpose of the evening was to honor four retiring employees who have accumulated a total of 87 years with the school corporation. Honored were Betty Ganger, secretary of North Webster Junior High School’s principal: Vivian Kern, custodian and cook: Lois Koher, cafeteria service manager: and Louis Firestone, corporation maintenance man. Lakeland schools honor non-certified employees
Lakeland Community School’s non-certified employees were honored Thursday evening. April 2. at the annual banquet. Noncertified employees included, secretaries, cooks, bus drivers, custodians and teacher aids The main purpose of the evening was to honor four retiring employees, Lois Koher, Vivian Kern. Louis Firestone, all of Syracuse; and Elizabeth Ganger. North Webster. Following the evening meal, presentations were made to the four employees who have accumulated in excess of 87 years “It's a tremendous, outstanding record of loyalty and devotion." remarked Lakeland School Board President Billy G. Little. Little made the presentifions Mrs. Koher, who received a 25year award, started working for the school corporation in 1955 in the cafeteria of the Syracuse school. When Wawasee High Car scratched at bowling alley Jeff A. School began in the fall of 1968 she went to the high school and became the cafeteria supervisor From 1969 until present she has been the school service manager She and her husband. Maurice, have one daughter Elaine. Another 25->year award recipient was Mrs. Kern, who also began working in the Syracuse Schools in 1956 as part of the custodian staff. At Wawasee she started sharing her time between custodian duties and the cafeteria She and her husband. Bill; have one son. Roger, and two daughters. Sandra and Ruby. "I just want to thank everybody. I’ve enjoyed it all." remarked .Mrs. Kern. Mrs. Ganger, secretary at the North Webster Junior High School, has accumulated 19 years with the corporation.
