Two robbers crucified

And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left. And the scripture was fulfilled which says. "He was reckoned with the transgressors" (Mark 15:27 28 RSV) One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying.

have those Roman whips whistling around my hide again. How they tore the muscles off my arms. I couldn’t believe that was my meat and blood spattering the walls, all over the walls! Thank God my wounds are numb now. Why does Jaref scream at the crowd? Doesn’t he know he is just sport for them now? He can’t hurt anyone trying to ram them with his crossbeam. He only stumbles and falls and then he feels the whips again. It is far too late to learn now. Our fate is sealed. Only a little more and we will go out the gate. These people mocking us are keeping right up with us Well, stagger along with me! They will circle around us as we are pulled up on those crosses. Yelling and jeering at us. I dare not think. « Stop’ That soldier must want me to stop. I can’t just stand here. I’ll fall over with this log crossbeam What’s stopping us’

Jaref is moving. They are really laughing at him, swinging his crossbeam at the crowd that way. It must be the little one. He has gotten too far behind again. We must wait for him. He is just not strong enough for this. Who is? Where is that soldier with the bitter juice? At least it makes the fire of this pain die down a little. I'm so thirsty. If I could only drink from that puddle I’d put my whole face in. I would only fall, and then they would whip me till I got up again. Better to thirst, it won’t be long. Yes! It will be long! How many I have seen die this way. I dare not think Come on, little one. You have fallen again. At least the crowd has pity on you That woman wiped your face! How bloody the cloth is. Your kingly crown of thorns is making you bleed to death You won’t even make it to Golgatha. maybe not to the gate, even. Who

will take a bet? Well, to die so soon, you will be spared the cross, the hours of hanging there I dare not think. Why can’t I go on? I must keep moving, keep this crossbeam balanced on my back. How my back throbs from the lashes! My 6wn meat and blood splattered on the walls! I can never grow it back! I will never see another day! 1 dare not think. Little one. they have put your crossbeam on someone else. There are people in that crowd who love you. Would someone cared about me. They called Him the righteous One. even the Messiah. He did so much that was right. But that was as bad as stealing from the rich That’s where I made my mistake. I felt sorry for the poor, and so I stole from the rich They are the ones who want it all back and demand justice. How ; quickly I was arrested! Well there is always a fatal mistake, my uncle always said. Just one that is all there is. Keep moving The wind is blowing in my face. How cool it is! Cool and clean outside the gate. A few more steps up the hill. Oh. my arms! Now the beam is holding me up Well, I carried it long enough, it can carry me. Little One. You are being nailed to Your cross What peace You preached, and now You die like a common criminal, like us Ah. Jaref, your rantings seem far away. Jesus is between us. Too bad He must hear you Little difference with aU that crowd shouting down from the walls. Yes, let me suck on that sponge. The bitter juice does blot out the pain. Oh. my head. 1 can’t hold it up so I can breath, or gag. these awful groans. I can’t stop them Is this what it is to die? I dare not think Jesus is so close to me A lot closer than when I used to follow Him around. He healed and touched people. 'The Kingdom of God is at hand,” would say. “Change your ways.” Well. I didn’t change mine, and now I’m dying Why are they killing Him? Jaref, shut up. Yes, He is a king Much more than those pretenders we must call king He’s a heavenly King, like God would pick to rule our country. Then a man wouldn’t have to

being effectively and gradually programmed into the educational process of our children. It is fast becoming the unofficial state religion of the United States of America. Humanism is a dead end faith. While it takes on the disguise of a very positive approach to human problems, in its innermost principle, it is a religious doctrine that leads to nowhere, except despair and hopelessness. What are the basic tenets of the Humanist religion? Here is a condensed list. 1. All forms of the supernatural are myths. 2. Man is a product of nature. His mind is indivisibly connected with the functions of the brain, and so therefore, he can have no conscious survival after death. 3. Human beings possess the power or potentiality of solving their own problems and building the perfect world through reason and scientific method combined with courage and vision. 4. Human beings are masters of their own destiny 5. Moral standards are determined by the experiences and relationships of the temporal world and are primarily aimed at progress and pleasure in the present tense. 6. Humans experience life’s highest good by selfdevelopment. personal satisfaction and personal effort in activities that contribute to the welfare of the community. 7. The aesthetic appreciation of art, natural beauty and nature’s loveliness should become a pervasive, inner reality in the life of man. 8. Programs should be instigated which would establish world peace, proseprity and a flourishing economic order. 9. Society will be enhanced by the implementation of reason and the scientific method in the areas of economic, political and cultural life. 10. There are no absolute values or ethics. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do hot lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him. and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wide in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones” (Proverbs3:s-8). Who has seen the wind? Neither you nor I: But when the trees bow down their heads, The wind is passing by. — Christina G. Rossetti

presents “Christ in the Passover” in the New Paris Missionary Church, Sunday, April 5, at 10:15 am. The purpose of the “Christ in the Passover” presentation is to enhance the Christian understanding of the New Testament by showing a Jewish background for the communion celebration. Ancient and modern Jewish customs are discussed and described with an emphasis on the aspect of redemption that Christ accomplished at Calvary. A table is set with the traditional Jewish Passover items, including representative foods which are explained, but not eaten. _ Members of the Jews for Jesus group have given this demonstration in more than 1,000 different churches. It was originally written in 1956 by Moishe Rosen, the founder and leader of Jews for Jesus. It was abstracted from the writing and the former rabbi Leopold Cohn, who came to Christ in 1894 and died in 1936. Rosen contends that some of the most important elements of Christian doctrine, such as the Trinity, the principle of substitutionary atonement, and salvation through a personal relationship with the Messiah, are implied in the Seder (Passover Feast) as observed by Orthodox Jews even today. The Jews for Jesus organization has a national staff of 80 and is most known for their high visibility evangelism. They’ve distributed tens of millions of Gospel pamphlets on street corners across the United States, pamphlets with titles such as “Passover,” or “It Shouldn't Even Happen to an Egyptian” and "Jesus Made Me Kosher.” “Literature is not the only medium we use to preach our message.” says Brickner. “We have three Mobile Evangelistic Teams who use music and drama to make a statement about Jesus Recently we have launched a program of Jewish Evangelism workshops across the country as away of involving ordinary Christians in an effective witness to their Jewish friends and coworkers." The program is open to the general public. Brickner will be available to answer questions those attending might have. A wise man never loses anything if he have himself. —Michel de Montaigne
