MARCH 24.1871 A dozen ar more federal, state, Kosciusko County and Elkhart County police officers converged on Milford’s bank within minutes after a daring daylight robbery last Thursday, afternoon. Road blocks were set up at several points in an attempt to capture the robber. Guests in the Robert Over>‘.edt home at Milford over the week end included Miss Pat Hunter and Miss Anne Willis of Hastings, North Island. New Zealand, who were in town Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Mrs. Lloyd Felkner and Chester Felkner of Milford spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Miller alsd of Milford. After spending two weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Overstedt at Milford. Samuel Temple, son of Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Temple, returned to the family home in Lansing, 111., last Saturday. Mrs. Emma Krauter of Milford had as her Tuesday evening supper guests, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Coy and daughter of New Paris. Mrs. Gordan Blausser and sons visited Saturday evening. Friday and Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Overstedt at Milford were Mr and Mrs Chester Campbell of London. Ontario, Canada and Lloyd Campbell and Cameron Mac Kay of Kincardine. Myers at Pompano Beach and with Mr. and Mrs. Don Boyd at Hollywood. On the way home they stopped to see Mr. and Mrs. Ray Arnold at Saint Petersburg. Fishdand of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tusing. Syracuse Junior High Bluegrass Festival The Syracuse Junior High Creative Arts Club sponsored a Bluegrass Festival last night. March 24. Many people enjoyed the program learning about Appalacia mountain people and were entertained as well. The program began with 200 balloons floating into the evening air in honor of Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month is an annual observance sponsored by the Crayon, Watercolor and Craft Institute to gain public support for quality art education. Ron Eversole of Mishawaka explained how to whittle and told stories about country life. Kay Franke directed two skits, “The Moonshiners Daughter" and “Little Nell.'’ Junior high students acting in these [days were: Sandi Bowman. Resa Stewart, Sheila Snyder, Peter McFarland, Gregg McClain and Rick Mangona. A clogging, foot stomping dance was performed by Greta Hilker, Clint Carden, Sheila Kleinrichert, Tim Gillum. Tatia Littleton, Steve Yoder, Kelly McQuillian and Gregg McClain. Arleen Corson choreographed the dance Bluegrass musicians, Cindy Yager, with a dancing doll and an antique toy collection completed the evening. The bluegrass musicians, well-known in the area for their music, were: Jim Dilley on guitar, John Baker on banjo and Gay Smith on fiddle. The Creative Arts Club can be proud of their efforts for providing an enjoyable evening in Appalacia Garden dub to visit Goshen greenhouse The April meeting of the Syracuse-Wawasee Garden Club will be a field trip to Mclntosh s greenhouse on US 33. south of Goshen, on Tuesday, April 7. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garrison of Summitville were recent visitors in the home of their son, Rev. Claude Garrison and family. Mrs. William Coy returned home Sunday from a three week visit at Dowagiac, where she visited the families of Ray Brown, J.W. Philips and John Hartter. Soon after her arrival in Dowagiac, the Brown family became ill with influenza and while there she also became ill with a light attack.
